Chase Case 5

I have been watching this nice cell in NE CO since it initiated and it is looking really nice on the 20z update. I think I am in perfect position. I probably could of stayed around home for this event as well but I am happy to be right where I am. Ovid, CO.

It may be a risk, but I am going move south out of North Platte and head for NW KS. I know the road network that awaits the cell moving out of CO, so I am going to take my chances on the Colby, KS area. Atleast if I bust here there is not a long drive home awaiting me.

I'm heading west out of Ogallala, Ne to meet this storm coming in. I think I'll stop at the split of 80 and 76, if the storm takes a more northerly track I'll continue on 80 to intercept and if not I can still take 76 SW.

I feel pretty good about my chances down here in Kansas. I haven't seen another chaser all day. Cu field is become quite aggitated in my area. Originally this morning I was thinking I would chase in southwest Kansas, however the dryline has advanced further than I had guessed. I am still in Dighton, KS and doubt I will move any further west or south. In fact I might have to move east and north based on the latest trends.

The chase begins!

I will post an update every 15-30 minutes consisting mainly of radar and satellite images, and updates on tornado warnings.

I am on the cell straddling the Colorado/Nebraska border. Great visibility here! Rolling up 76 paralleling, and looking for road options. I will stick with this cell for the duration.

I missed the CO tube hanging in Ogallala but am already dropping south down hwy 61 to Imperial, and then east towards McCook on hwy 6. Will be there by 23z at the latest.
