0Z Data

I thought I would try posting my first chase case. If there is any other info you want let me know and I will try to post it. Here is 0Z data for the night before the chase day. This is a relatively small data set designed simply to give everyone a general picture of the atmosphere and allow you to position for tomorrow’s event. I will post a more comprehensive 12Z update, including satellite, radar, etc. sometime tomorrow. Good luck!

I'm going to head out of Denver up 76 to I-80 and stay overnight in North Platte, NE. I have a feeling this could be a N. Plains type of setup. Thanks for getting another one of these going!

I'm concerned about how backed those upper levels will be so I'm inclined to stay south, but I want to get north under those nice cool H5 temps... I'll head to Oakley, KS, for now. Should have plenty of time to get in position tomorrow from there.

North Platte, NE, for me. Can't believe they're letting me drive after that last chase.

Charles, thanks for bringing another scenario on board so swiftly!

After looking at the sounding at home I don't like the veering winds at the SFC, as well as much of eastern Kansas. I will hedge just a nudge and hang out in Oklahoma City and wait for the next data update. I am geared to head into the Salina, Ks area, but I am a dryline freak. The 300mb UA chart shows the majority of the energy poised to streak through the central and northern plains region, so I am going to split the difference and keep SW & W Kansas in play. The data is pointing to a start in Salina, to target a play in SW Nebraska and NW & W Kansas. CAPE in AMA at 1500j/kg range and higher, and I cannot ignore that. I feel the trough should dig far enough south to trigger a descent event in W Ok., and Tx Panhandle. 700mb UA is hinting at possible Lee cyclogenisis taking shape over my target area. I will be at the Comfort Inn in Norman, Ok.

Gonna learn my lesson from the last case and get in better position on day one. Gonna head out from Lawrence and make my way to Colby, KS. I think the play will be in the western part of Nebraska in the Ogallala area. But for now it's Colby.

Wow, looks like that Mid-UA short wave Trof may go negative tilt!

Do they have accommodations near Brady, NE??

P.S. The warm 700mb Ts in W TX/NC Co and especially NW NM bear watching! Will be watching advection with this event...

Agree. I don't know how that'll play out tomorrow, but I've had several cap busts this year and I'm wary. I feel good about northwest KS on up, and I'm thinking lapse rates will be steeper to the north as the H5 trough moves in.

Hi all! I am a noob to this site and a noob to chasing. I am a storm spotter but I have not chased any storms but have followed along the last three chases. As such alot of what I do is guessing. I kind of can figure out upper air charts and soundings but I am lost with skew T charts. So my starting location is Colby KS. I think the storms might be a bit farther north but I will stay here for the night. Lets see what happens.
