I was a bit curious as to what the general thinking was for this fall and the possibilty of severe weather. With the ongoing drought over much of the heartland and the progged above average temps (per the CPC). The longer range GFS ensambles seem to be different everyday some even showing a winter storm as Dan Robinson dislpayed previously... Should we just start looking forward to a hopefilled 2007 or keep the gear tuned and handy for the remainder of this year?

There's really no advantage to 'stopping' watching for severe weather, it can happen any time of the year. If you have subscription services and money is an issue, this is the season to start shutting those down. Otherwise I'd say keep checking the latest data / SPC outlooks.
