Today was a very warm to hot day across much of the southern states. Today seems to be the start of a long streak of many days of 90's to come. Today at NAS Jacksonville, while I was working, we hit 100 degrees for the first time in a few years. The funny thing is, its only June 9th, much more summer to come. The drought has allowed the soil to heat up much more than usual, adding to the warming of the air, rising the temps up. You can see the trend for today at NAS JAX. I work from the 0653 to 1753 observations.

were dyin here in MS, its hella hot down here...crops are whithering away, and a drive in a car without air-conditioning is a heavy ordeal...conditions impoved locally as far as drought is concerned with local storms...but you take any givin drive and youll see one corn field thats 5 foot tall and another thats wilted and shriveled up...

sure could use some rain...

We warmed up much faster than yesterday. It is currently 101F here at NAS JAX and 97 at KJAX/ Jacksonville Int'l. WTF is going on!, this shouldn't happen til August. Any ways, just another hot day in Florida.

Same situation here in central KY. Some places are over 6" behind in rainfall totals so far this year. And to make matters worse, last Friday's storms all but passed us over here in Boyle county and my grass is browner than ever. Now there's another ridge moving in and all talk of precipitation has been removed from this week's forecast discussions.

We hit 100 today at the airport in Mobile, AL...

Thankfully I spent the hot part of the day at the beach where the seabreeze kept it comfortable.

Hit 101 and 100 at Montgomery this week. I'm wondering if it can get much worse here. 100.9 at my personal weather station was the high temp for last week as well. Long and dry summer it looks like.

This may be better farther south, but I am going to Ft. Meyers for a week on the 23rd. One thing I love about FL is awesome afternoon convection. I wonder if there will be less activity then usual. I know the entire state has been really dry. *wishes for active but highly sheared tropical wave*

Looks like the ridge out west could break monday or atleast for the north central states and a cold front is expected to come through. While 7 days out and things will change just the possibility of a cold front and mabey severe storms for monday is welcome. Untill then temps expected to be in the upper 80's to low 90's. To hot for me but when it is freezing out I cant wait for this heat lol

i was just looking at the GFS...that 7-8 day is the ONLY chance MS is going to get for any kind of weather...and it looks to me like nothing much in the future but more scorching heat...

had to take a drive with my family to walkers bridge today to cool off...major drought here in MS, and like i said...i saw some corn fields that were not even 6 inches high and shriveled up...almost dead...and some crops...near centerville road...that are almost 5 feet high...

desparatly needing rain here...this ridging is killing us!
