I'm looking at the 500mb flow on the GFS, and there appears to be pretty strong SW flow moving into the Northern Plains midweek, and it will track into the Midwest by next weekend. Seems like there could be some explosive storms developing in this flow regime. The last week in August last year was active as well, with some supercell/derecho events in the midwest.
Things could be interesting, any thoughts/reasons to get going on FCST threads? Gas prices coming down too.

Not a bad trough for this time of year.
