• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I think there should be some unofficial contest ending with a two round poll to vote for the best. I think some comments on whose looks best would be a good.

I like that idea...maybe break it down into categories (best structure shot, best tornado shot, best lightning shot, etc.), and then from the best of each everyone can pick their favorite overall. I think someone (Chad C.) did something like this on their personal website last year.

Photos of 2009

I did not get out and chase as much as I would have liked to this year but had a few storms roll through Barton County which I was able to get out on. These were of the storm on 06202009 that did some damage in Great Bend, Kansas. Got these just outside of Claflin, Kansas. I have some better ones on my digital camera but there were on a disc that I had so here they are. Not the greatest camera lens and those were the last of the old roll. I got closer with the new roll but don't have that roll done yet.

I had a better year last season in terms of tornadoes, but I still saw a few this season. Photo-wise, this was a very good year for me. Here are a few gems:

But the storm season here is thankfully only at its beginning.

The best way to do it here would be like they do in flickr. You create the contest thread and everyone can post a picture, No Chatter, no comments only a picture and a number. Poster number one posts "#1" and adds a photo, poster two "#2" and their photo and so on. After a week the thread is closed to new submissions and the voting starts. Each person voting will post their favorite, their second place and third place favorites as such without chatter so that their votes would appear as such:

#7
#15
#2

After a week of voting the voting ends and the votes are tallied. There could be a few running at once as well with categories.

How many people are even interested in a contest and would participate though?

That first photo from Jim Edds is one of the best so far. Nice job with that one my friend!

I think it's a great idea, but we should wait until the 2009 chase season is over. Don't forget, there's still chasing on the Northern Plains well into July, and there's always the possibility of a mini chase season this Fall. A 2009 photo contest is best reserved for early January when all of us will be really bored.

I think they meant along the lines of the traditional chase season which is march through June. Yes we can have severe wx all year round but most of the good stuff has happened and the majority of people are done with the big vacations etc...

Plus who wants to wait another six months for this???? We can always have another contest for "off season" catches " :)

my chase season did not go as planned, but next year I will be getting me a tornado for sure.

here's my best shots.
