Now starting to see how the band of precip is setting up here in NE, IA, and KS. I can already see that most of the heaviest snow is going to end up being over NW Iowa, from Clarinda northward to Denison. Seeing that they have been in the heaviest band of snow the longest, ever since 9am this morning.

Very impressive winds at 850mb

Wow...northerly 85 kts. at 850b in W/C Oklahoma....pretty astonishing and this storm is still bombing out. Looks like we are on the fringes of the sleet change over here in OP. I would expect in next 1-2 hrs. that the sleet really opens up across the KS side of the KC Metro.

Snow picking up here in Norman, visibility is beginning to drop...I'd estimate to about 1/2 mile. Precip still falling as a mix, but is now predominately snow.
Edit: make that less than 1/10 mile. This is incredible...makes the 1993 Superstorm look like flurries.

1 and 2 foot drifts now common in my front and back yard - wind and snow still heavy in western OKC with visibility at times nearly impossible for me to see my neighbors across the street.

H.E. Bailey Turnpike just shut down from Central OK to North Central TX (Wichita Falls).

Military is being dispatched to rescue people stuck on the road there.

Breaking NEWS OKLA

The turnpike is now closed from New Castle to TX state line. Now I-35 closed south of Norman.

The snow rate is now up to 3" per hour SW of OKC to Lawton area pulling east toward I-35 Corridor.

Will Rogers airport in bound light systems is down all inbound flight canceled.

22.2 degrees in Moore, OK with 26mph sustained winds, 56mph gust(s) in the past hour and blowing moderate snow. White-out conditions with heavier gusts. NAM and GFS look like they are still in fundamental agreement for Central OK/W OK coverage. Now I wonder if intensity will be pegged too?

Snow finally started here in Allen, TX. Pretty heavy, with a good stiff wind behind it. Visibilities here are still pretty good, but I expect things to go downhill fast.

Round 2 of the major winter storm is about to start again here in southern Minnesooootah. I would guess we probably ended the first round with about 7 or 8 inches...they are still forecasting 18-21 inches which will be fun once the wind picks up

I love the "weather map" still linking off OUN's own homepage. Sure maybe folks only need to look outside, but since 4 a.m. evidently that has been one of the options to look at on there. It could update from the HPC soon obviously.
