Start of the fall "season"?

The only problem I can see with the setup is the fact that it is in Nebraska! lol Hopefully it will trend southward over time.

I was thinking the only problem is it's opening of College Football Season, we have a home game and to top it off its a night game, I'm not sure if the chance at a late season tornado is worth missing a full day of tailgating, slow that puppy down and make it an awesome day across E NE Sunday! Otherwise I might be forced to opt out and choose booze, brats and football...

I gave up my seat at the OU-Nebraska game on October 28, 2000 to chase marginal crap in SW Oklahoma. I got a squall line for my efforts while missing one of the most historic games in Sooner history....the only day the goalposts have come down in the 14 years I've been in Norman.

But had I sat through the game and missed a tornado, I'd still be pissed off.

Nods of agreement here...

The setup is on Sunday, so I don't see a problem with college football. But college football does create hard decisions during the fall season!

I agree and the "set-up" will likely slow down even more as it approaches as the models tend to speed things up a bit. I put set-up in quotations because there has really only been one or two model runs showing the event and the consistency has not been there....yet :)

LOL!!! You guys that are already getting your hopes up might not want to look at the 0Z GFS now.....

You'll also now have to wait until Tuesday night at least. But hey, that's still in my neck of the woods, so I'll see how it pans out.

I think I'm already developing my seasonal SDS...

Well, this August has been so cool and quiet around here that I actually took a break from checking the SPC Day 4-8 outlook daily for a week or so. This thread brought me back, in time for a reality check:

BUT...RECENT TRENDS IN THE MEDIUM RANGE GUIDANCE APPEAR TO BE AWAY FROM STRONG DIGGING ACROSS THE WESTERN U.S...WITH PRIMARY LOW-LEVEL CYCLOGENESIS AND UPPER FORCING MOST SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTING THE CENTRAL CANADIAN PROVINCES LATE THIS WEEKEND.

(Slap). Same old song and dance, my friends...

The EURO showed the trough a little more north from the get-go and it appears the GFS is coming on board with that solution now which to me seems a little more realistic.

The pattern we've been in has been persistent and it will take a major shift on the global scale to get a persistent change. GFS now shows a series of troughs rather than one big one hanging down there. This could be the start of an active week in the northern plains or perhaps even the midwest once Labor day weekend rolls around. I just hope it waits till the 10th because I have a stupid outplacement thing I have to attend at work if I am to qualify for unemployment once my last day rolls around.

After that Im free to chase wherever whenever! I couldnt care less about college football if you paid me, but if I DID care...it would be a no-brainer on which I would pick...college football follows a schedule and you are guaranteed more games in the immediate future...case closed IMO.

Shane, I opted for the game instead of chasing on a moderate risk day. I kept my eye to the sky and hoped development would hold off until after the game. I am so glad I chose the game. What an atmosphere at the campus..It was ELECTRIC!!! I don't mean to rub it in, but that wasn't a game, it was an EVENT, before, during, and after.

GFS consistently hinting the last couple of days that we could see more fall like weather in the 24th - 28th timeframe and although waaaay out, it also hints at wanting to kick something out of the southern rockies on the base of a strong h5.
