• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

SPC Forecasters

I agree with the last few posts. These guys are all good forecasters, or else they wouldn't be getting paid to do it. Like Shane said, for those who dog the SPC, show us what you've got. Put a forecast out several times a day like they do, and see who comes out on top.

The SPC in general does a wonderful job. It sucks when they get dogged if a forecast doesn't go as planned. But, when they nail a forecast, they're basically forgotten.

Thanks to the SPC for the wonderful job they do!

SPC are great, one of the best websites out, it has everything you need and the write ups are always of top quality and extremely informative

I second Jason on this...Kudo's for a thankless job

Mostly true, but as you will hear many times, SPC does not forecast for chasers. So not quite everything you need, but it comes pretty close.

As others have said, few if any of us could consistently do as good a job as those guys do. Thanks SPC!

I guess I really don't have a problem with any of them.. Half of the time I don't even look at the forecaster..

IMO I don't think any of them are any large deal better than any other one.. I just think sometimes certain forecasters get their run in with the very volatile high risk, that if it busts get a bad rep, even though any other forecaster could have the same problems!

I'm glad to have every single one of em!

Just so you know, from a verification standpoint, you cannot tell the forecasters apart. I know this my fly in the face of what most of you think (that some are better than others), but statistically speaking, the SPC works as a unit...you can't tell one person's forecast from another's.

Being a forecaster in the UK, I am well aware of how people can be critical of forecasters! As was mentioned above, the SPC are not forecasting for chasers - I wonder whether some chasers (none on ST I don't think!) think that they should just drive into the centre of the MOD risk area, and be confronted with a tornado.
Actually you guys in the USA should be glad you have the open access to discussions, etc, from the NWS, as here in the UK, if you're not a professional forecaster, it's hard to get hold of many data products, or forecast/synoptic discussions, due to the different nature of the weather industry over here.

I myself do not look at the forecaster either. All of them do an excellent job. I had a chance to visit with Rich at the chaser convention in Denver and he was very informative and gave us his take on forecasting and chasing. Thanks so much for all that each forecaster in the SPC does.

As you know from my previous posts I am a big supporter of the SPC. They all do a darn good job and in my opinion are brilliant forecasters..

Carbin, Corfidi, Mead, Thompson all caught my eye last year with some dandy insight that verified amazingly well. My biggest kudos to SPC would be the way they always seem to function as a unit. When there is a big day or a sticky forecast its common to see three names at the end of it. It seems to me I can almost feel the effort that goes in to being as accurate as possible.
