Question about severe weather following El Nino winters

I am pretty familiar with how an El Nino affects winters. What I would like to know though is how is severe weather and temperature is affected in the spring and summers following El Nino winters.

Specifically, I would like to know how and why severe weather occurs where it does, and why and how certain ridges and jet stream patterns develop due to the El Nino.

If anyone can help me on this, that would be greatly appreciated!

Well that right there requires a reply with a level of understanding i do not possess but i'll take a crack at it. A lot of the time you'll hear about El Nino tampering a bit with the way our systems track(zonal flow maybe?). There really is no way to directly link EL Nino to massive or poor seasons due to the numbers always fluctuating every year svr wise regardless of La Nina, El Nino, or neutral. Temps are usually higher East of the Mississippi.

For the last part of your question someone with more experience than i have will have to answer that.
