Chase Case #1

After a few minutes of watching this severe storm to my SW, I've decided to make a play on it and drop a little more south on HWY 75 just to be on the southern end of it and follow it just in case something does develop.

Domination Time

Still sitting in Council Grove, KS... Happy as can be, No speeding tickets while trying to get in position for me :D

I'll be moving a bit east on 36 towards Hiawatha.

Edit: Just saw Danny post the radar and satellite. I'll instead be moving to Horton, KS.

18z update....I'm happy sitting in El Dorado until the next update.

20z update.... Moving NE to Cottonwood Falls, KS. Lets do this. Decided once in Cottonwood Falls to move just a touch north through Strong City, KS and sitting in the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve along 177 to watch these storms develop and move my way. Sitting here a touch after 2100.

Im am leaving Fairview, KS and driving east a bit on 36 to stay ahead of the storm and let it come to me, probley hang out in Hiawatha

Ok, I'm getting antsy! I'm going due west on HWY 50 out of Emporia, going to get a scope on those storms just now firing in western Marion Co, KS. I'm going to jump on HWY 150 west and chill out around Marion, KS as these storms develop. This will allow me to have a southern route if something fires south and even a soutwest route. Looks like HWY 77 will be my friend today to hopefully avoid I-35 if needed.

I am moving south from Wichita, KS down to Wellington, KS......again. I have a feeling I am going to miss some great storms well to the north, but being realistic I know the only real option I have at this point is to chase whatever pops down along the OK/KS border. Fortunately, with recent satellite trends I expect storms to develop soon along the dryline. Low-level flow remains backed down here.

21Z-22Z Update to come between 9 and 10 P.M. Central tonight before I go to bed. I want to leave a lot of you with something to look forward to for tomorrows updates!

Going to slip north of St. Joseph, MO to near Falls City, NE , most likely stay on the MO side of the river and check radar data there....not willing to bite on going into NE KS ATTM....think the storms have a better environment along the KS/NE/MO border region...can drop back south on I-29 and jog back into Holt or Andrew Co MO if need be.....

Eagerly awaiting the next update, but for now I'm staying put in Medford. I just wish that when I was actually in the field I could feel so confident.

I think the dryline play in North Central Oklahoma and a Southern Kansas is going to be where its at today. I hope I'm right, because its too late to be wrong.

SCORE!!! Just scored a large and very dangerous tornado! I love Hiawatha!!! And Im only an hour away from home! LOL Gonna continue following this storm back toward Missouri or get on another one if it starts to disorganize, most likely the one behind it.

Having been near Herington, KS via U.S. 77/56 from the previous update, likely would have jaunted west along state route 4 towards Carlton, especially after hearing reports of a funnel cloud north of town. Looks like this is my storm for today. Good catch to those of you up north near Hiawatha, KS.
