The situation continues to unfold today. Numerous supercells are in progress over the northeast Kansas/northwest Missouri area. More isolated supercells are forming near Wichita, while southern Oklahoma and northern Texas are active as well. Numerous chasers have benefited on the tornado near Hiawatha already. A few chasers may have even caught the tornado in southern Oklahoma. Today was a high risk day. Make your own case if you would call it a bust, it depends on your point of view. Those who targeted northeast Kansas definitely scored the catch of the day. A couple of other supercells will produce tornadoes east of Wichita just after 00z and near St. Joesph, MO.

Stormtrack member Mike Peregrine captured a fantastic tornado near Hiawatha, KS.

NWS TOP did a survey on this tornado as well: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/top/events/june2005.php

If you hadn't guessed by now the date is June 4th, 2005! I am sorry about ending this abruptly but due to the holidays and traveling I will be doing this weekend it would be better for all to have this end and a new one be up by late Sunday night or Monday. If anyone wants to start one before then, feel free too. I have a good one planned for the next one so if you would all bear with me for a couple of days I can have it up. Thank you all for participating!!! I hope you all got something out of this and had fun.

If you personally chased this day please feel free to share your chase log or videos! I didn't chase the plains this day, I chased in N. IL and got on a severe warned storm in Will Co. IL.

A couple of pics from back then:

Nothing special and certainly not the show in the plains....... I had a friends graduation party to go to so I gave up the chase to the plains....

Anyway, thank this post if you knew this date or figured it out before I was done. (This will give me an idea if these are too easy ;) )

Awesome.

I did not chase this day, nor was I ever aware of the event as I did not really follow the weather back then the way I do now. In 05 I was a local area chaser only. Didn't start expanding on that until the following year.

Based on my original target there is a very good chance I could have gotten on this storm and bagged that nader.

In all likelihood, I think I was a bust on this one. My mistake was heading S out of Tonkawa instead of N as that put me in no man's land. Wouldn't have made it to S OK and missed the tornadoes on the OK/KS border. Great case though! I remember doing some research on this day a few years ago. Good job everyone else who caught something but no steak for me tonight...

Hard to say for me. In this case I stuck it to myself by letting the first storm go by and hopping on the second one in line. In real life, I suspect I'd have earned a steak and a beer. Then again, in real life, I wasn't there anyway, so nuts. Best I can say is, I saw some great virtual storms and maybe a virtual tornado, and overall I'm feeling so virtuous that I think I'll have a second beer.

I might add, it would have been a heck of a day to be a cranberry farmer working out in those Wisconsin bogs.

Thanks for the case, Danny!

Thanks for doing this game, I might have actually seen something. Definitely a learning tool as well.
Also check out the day before: Looks like a very good day for tornadoes

Hard one to call for me. A couple TOR reports near Junction City so maybe I caught something. Certainly was on a supercell, at least.

I probably did not see a tornado on this day.

I was heading to Seneca, KS for 0Z and a storm popped on the north side of the line, heading north. Likely, I would have followed this storm up toward Omaha and only documented the hail that it put down.

Good to know also, that my previous target actually did finally fire (the cu field west of Hebron to York). Nothing but hail from those storms, however.
