• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Any RadarScope updates in the pipe?

I like the iPod/iPhone app "RadarScope" -- any updates in making? If this program could draw warning polygon boxes, it'd be a great chase too.

Wish the Gibson Ridge folk would make an iPhone app -- now there's an iPhone program I'd pay $50 for! :)

That's a great question Ryan. I kind of wonder what will happen when the final change-over to high res level 3 data (ie...no legacy data) happens later this year. I hope they have an update in the works! Great tool for sure! :)

Even if the resolution was only as good as RadarScope?

I finally saw the RadarScope program in action...and it is handy as hell. Sure, resolution is pretty bad, but then again, I chased forever with only basic internet radar (or no radar back in the 90s), and it's as good as that.

Yes. updates are in the works. I'm playing with a beta and will be chasing with it [hint...hint]

Resolution is what it is from the radar data. It's the same resolution as Gibson Ridge. Or did you mean something else?

Oh, I wasn't worried about resolution -- I just like the extras that GR provides, like warning boxes, storm tracks, text products, etc.

*edit* Ooops, you weren't replying to me. :) Yeah, I dunno about that -- the resolution looks the same as GR3 to me. Of course, you have to zoom waaaay in to see it thanks to the small screen, but it's there if you need it.

I wasn't able to do a A/B comparison, but the resolution seemed less than GR3 (and I'm not talking about the smoothing option either). I could be wrong. Maybe someone with both can take pictures side by side to show the difference....at the same zoom distance. Perhaps for me, it was just the small screen too. I know it's not really an apples to apples comparison. And as stated, I'm still impressed with it non-the-less. The resolution factor to me really shouldn't matter in a chase situation. I still had the idea of iPhone only being on the AT&T network...the biggest reason I won't sign up (just yet).

I am looking forward to seeing how the app looks on the iPad I will be picking up on Sat. A few additional features and that large display will be very nice. Much easier to handle in the car than a laptop. I will still bring and use one of course, but I think radarscope and iPad will be a nice addition to my tool kit.

If anyone needs an iPad beta tester I will be available as of Sat. :)

EDIT: FWIW I will be using a Sprint 3G/4G hot spot with the iPad so ATT isn't an issue for me. I liked that on my chase a couple weeks back much better than ATT from last year...

Casey,

Can you post your results and/or screenshots of Radarscope with the iPad?

We're adding the new Level III products and native iPad support, among other things. Got it running full-screen on a real iPad for the first time today.

Here is what i would like to see for the app which i tried for the first time last night and thought holy cow this program is amazing. Just wondering if they would add like street level mapping or warning poloygons? Also a legend to tell dbz values or at least rainfal amounts.Any thoughts

I've never used the app, but the only thing I can think of is that it's pulling images that have been compressed (i.e. JPG with a high level of compression).
