• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Thought it was about time to start a now thread for this event as it has already started across central/SW Oklahoma. Heavy sleet is already being reported across central Oklahoma with plenty more precip on the way

proof that it's thunder sleet!

:) Nice shot Kevin. Looking at radar out of Tulsa a very intense area of precip sw of the city. Track should take it right over the metro area. Was curious if this was falling as sleet or freezing rain?

Here in Broken Arrow I'm getting sleet. The precip started as freezing rain for about the first ten or so minutes, then changed to sleet.

Thanks! It was all sleet. It was very heavy sleet at that, and its still falling as light/moderate sleet across the Norman area. Am hoping for a change over to snow sooner rather than later. Gotta get a head start on those snowfall totals!!

Starting to pick up sleet here in Springfield, hoping that doesn't last too long as it eats into snow totals.

I will be out all night shooting video here in Tulsa. Currently have .5" of sleet with a heavier band starting to move in here in downtown.

Heavy freezing rain just started here in Sadler, TX. Hope it changes over to sleet or snow soon. Radar trends would indicate a catastrophe if freezing rain continued to be the dominate form of precip. Gonna be pretty bad here no matter what as we live out in the country and the road we live on would be one of the last to receive attention from county crews. We stocked up on food and rum today so if we get stranded it won't be so bad.

Started with heavy IP and thunder here 5 minutes ago and has already switched to heavy SN. I am 5 miles west of KLJN.

Sleet as begun to mix with snow in Norman. Winds also picking up too with 24 mph sustained out of the N with gusts to 33 mph on the Mesonet. New batch of precip is moving in from the SW on GR2A and am expecting to be all snow. Bring on round 2!!

Whiteout conditions here in Baxter Springs, KS. Just took one of our ambulances 30 minutes to go 5 miles. N/S highways are pretty much impassable. 12" so far at least hard to tell with it drifting.

KOCO has been reporting 9-11" across the OKC metro area, 9" closer to Norman, with mainly 10" reports. Not sure how valid they area, but I'm guessing no less than 7-8" in area of west Norman. Shoveled out the car to go to work tonight, and it was a bit more snow than the 3-5" I was expecting after reading some earlier posts. :)

The 18Z (noon) METAR reports carried 4/ groups which showed 12 inches for OKC and 14 inches for TUL. Here east of Norman I think we did improve on our earlier totals as those last few bands had some good, fat flakes. There is substantial drifting which makes it hard to get a representative figure but I'd say we have around 7 inches, give or take a few. I plan to go out and measure it when I find some proper footwear.

I didn't know there was a NOW thread for this event.

Anyways snow just now tapering off here in N OKC. I would say there is around 10, maybe 11 inches fallen. The wrap around actually put down a couple more inches yo bring us into double digits.

There is a three foot drift in front of my doorway/porch and hardly any of the roofs here are covered, it all blew off into drifts. Temperature here is about 8F, the winds are still occasionally gusting around 25-30. It is just wayyy too cold to even play in this snow!

Tulsa looks to have gotten the money band and perhaps Springfield missed it by a handful of miles to their north west. Looking @ it last night, I thought for sure Springfield would get clobbered, but I guess you guys stayed @ sleet longer.

It is interesting to see how the sleet cuts down snow totals so quickly, luckily here in OKC we only stayed in sleet for maybe an hour before all heavy snow.

Light snow began here in far NE Illinois (30mi North of Chicago) last night from the "appetizer" system. I shoveled about 2in off the driveway around midnight, then shoveled another 2in when I woke up this morning. We've had a steady band of lake effect all day today, but it's only around the 1/4in / hr rate, with some quick bursts to 1/2in rates, although it's picked up here in the last couple hours. The "main event" is still about 5hrs away from my location, but we've already got a good jumpstart on the snow totals locally from the system last night and the lake effect today. I was just out driving around, and the plows have already begun to fall behind on clearing the streets. Already about 6in of new snow on the ground, and the blizzard warning doesn't start for another 90min. :D

This is going to get real interesting.

Winds and snow have really picked up here in Kansas City. Looks like a second axis is rotating in from the south and west from Emporia. Looks like the dry slot may slide out the the south and east.
