I'm a New England based storm chaser and for awhile now Sunday has been looking good with 90 degree heat building up today and Saturday leading to plenty of energy for storms to spark strong as a cold front brings a ten degree temperature from west east Sunday morning. It's' dads day and I don't want to leave my old man in tears when I go chasing for nothing so yes I do need some opinions. Would you recommend that I go chasing on Sunday?

PS. I've chosen the name for my new website and I will announce it ( along with a link when the creation of it is complete ( estimating within the next couple months.

Thanks!

Never disappoint a close relative. There will always be tornadoes and chasing opportunities. You might not always have your father.

Definitely go with spending time with your dad!! There will be plenty more opportunities to chase. Or, ever thought about bringing your dad along on a chase?

I would stay with your father. This is his one day out of the year and you will get plenty of other days to chase severe weather. Also it appears that the SPC is not very interested in the possibility of any severe weather over New England. Now the SPC outlooks should not be your basis for your forecasts but really I have to agree with them that there is a limited severe risk over NE and you would be wasting your day that you should be spending with your father.

But what if global warming ends tornadoes?!!!!11!1 :D:D:D:D:D

Family first chasing second food third

I actually want to spend time with my dad especially for his sake more than chasing however Mike had a good idea that I could take HIM chasing. I'll think about this more thanks for all six replies keep em coming.

PS I don't trust the SPC anymore after they issued moderate and slight risks for this recent outbreak.

I would hang out with dad. Storms will be around long after we are gone. Maybe next year, the two of you could plan a trip to the plains for fathers day. Just a thought.

Anyone on the east coast should be chasing as much as possible, but accept that the conditions of chasing are going to mean a lot less likelihood of seeing something tornadic, long vistas and wide open spaces, and having good road networks where you can keep up with the average storm (30-35mph, maybe higher for you up in NE vs. me in the MA).

I chase a bit here in MA because I am also an explorer. Plus, the more experienced you are with all tasks like navigation, multi-tasking, communication, etc. the better you are if and when you go the plains for the big game.

You should cahse EVERY day you can. You might see something beautiful or you might photograph something that can be usecd by the research community to solve all their problems.

Obviously your not a father. The problem with taking your dad chasing is there might be others who also want to spent time with him. Do you have any siblings? What about mom?

Stay home with dad. I know chasing opportunities are rare in your area but how many more fathers days will you and you dad have? You dont know for sure so dont waste them.

Weather will always be around

Totally right about that Jay... I'm not a father and I totally forgot that Sunday is Father's Day. My dad has been gone 17 years... I know, it completly changes the answer now that I'm aware what Sunday he was asking about. Of course it's an obvious answer. No chase.
