3/19/11 NOW: TX and SC

Any SC chasers out there near the cell that just put down some golf ball hail and is tor-warned bearing down Cross Hill? Not much lower level strength with the SRV scans as of now, nor is there much shown with helicity in the SPC mesoanalysis page, but that storm has held together and not lined-out. Would be nice to see some pictures of it at least if someone is around there. Interesting to see the SE movement too.

A friend of mine and myself were heading down from Asheville when we saw the pulse storms going up on the boundaries. When we got to our decision point, we decided to go ahead and just go to the Blue Ridge Parkway to take a few storm structure pics from a distance since they were "just" pulse storms. We had thought about racing down towards Greenville to get ahead of the monster but we just assumed it would die out by the time we wasted our gas to get down there and it was just a strong storm at the time. Then we get down the mountain after a parkway fail and of course we see it had turned into a supercell with a ridiculous 70+ DBZ core and mid-level rotation. We were really upset at ourselves for not deciding to go for it. We did have another friend who was on the storm and hail 5 inches deep was reported in certain areas. The hail was anywhere from penny to half dollar size and lasted for up to 25 minutes in certain locations.
