• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

2025-03-15 EVENT: AL/MS/AL/FL/GA/TN

I understand the desire to make it about damage. but to me, this takes the environment outside of the structure itself, out the picture. It also seems to open up the door to, say you have a chaser confirmed tornado out over no mans land, and no structures were damaged because it's out over a cornfield or open grass, say within an area of low observable NWS radar coverage (i.e. far enough away that only higher scan angles hit it), how is it rated then?

Say, the grass has been scrubbed off of the earth, and that happens at 160mph (arbitrary guess for argument), "ok everyone! the grass told us it's an EF3, case closed", BUT WAIT!, Vortex just happened to be there measuring it, and it caught 202mph. -insert office space comment "thaaatsss greeaaaat" but , sorry Vortex, the grass is the superior measure of your science truck, the grass is final! but, you can go ahead and add in an addendum to our official report with your data.

So ,10 years from now, people will say when they are posting historical chase chronicles on "TorTube" (copyright JNoe 2025'), that the 23 May 2025 Cornfield Tornado was an EF3 according to NWS grass damage experts, but there's a legitimate radar scans of EF5 lol, it just seems funny to me.

I will finish up with, I am not in a position to know all of the ins and outs of storm damage assessments and relationships but I do think there are some holes here.
