• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Your Best Tornado shot to date

Shot near Goodnight, Tx on 4/22/10. We were able to intercept this tornado to within under 100yds. This is a snapshot still image from my sony so it doesn't quite do it justice. This represents my best shot this year.

Here is another shot of that same tornado but zoomed in on the debris at the base. Once again, these are stills from my video recorder and do no justice whatsoever.

Ok, since everyone else is adding their best two, I feel the need to participate further. :-)

June 16, 2010 - Dupree, SD All three touched down at once. The one in the foreground didn't have a condensation funnel to the ground, but there was a debris cloud over the top of the trees. These were not multi-vortex yet. They eventually started rotating around each other and then warped into one wedge/cone tornado.

You can see the video of this amazing moment here (not my video) at the 7:57 mark:

You can see all the other tornado shots that I couldn't post here:

I hate this thread because it reminds me what I could have gotten had I driven up the damn hill at Bowdle. Not crazy about any of my stills from the year, more happy with video and I'm fine with that.

Not sure if that is a favorite from Dupree SD June 16 or not. Not crazy about any particular one of that I guess. Looks big and kinda scary so I guess it works.

Bowdle SD May 22nd same sorta deal. I swear during the more visible gaps I was sticking the video camera back on the window or wiping it off. Then bam more rain would screw up visibility and camera gear. I like some of these anyway since the storm looks so damn scary. Strong wedge behind that powerpole. It's like 10mm shot on a crop camera...17mm full frame.

I usually don't take stills while chasing that's more of my dad's thing and he doesn't use the camera enough to know the settings so unfortunately we never really got a good tornado still this season it was mainly the video that saved us but starting next season I'm using the still camera as I really am liking photography as it is very rewarding IMO when you nab a good shot.

I'm not a still shot photographer, as I prefer to focus on video, but here are a few stills taken from my Albert Lea footage, which was by far my best intercept of the year:

Here's a shot I've always wanted: a tornado by cows (5/22):

sdtor.jpg

Here's the butt-end of the Bowdle wedge; we got blocked off by debris and I shot this catching up on the dirt road. It's a unique "weenie-side" perspective, I guess, given that everyone else was wiser going down the dirt road than attempting to investigate whether there would be a way past downed power lines. At least it counts.

Seeing all the 6/17 pictures taken while I was severely hung over too far west just makes me wanna puke, but I'll always have May 22nd.

P.S. Don't laugh at the camera equipment; it's paid for ;)

Wow! Awesome work everyone. Mine would have to be the Goodnight, TX tornado (4/22). This was my first photogenic tornado.
