I've got two that i really like, but the first one might win because the picture quality. For some reason I had some real issues with noise on the second image. I tried a little de-noise, and it looks a little bit better. And yes the first image, that is rain that you see blowing in the image, not hail. Enjoy!
Definitely my pics of the 06/17 tornado near Grand Forks, ND. I sacrificed some of the video of this tornado when I shut off the camcorder to pull out my Rebel T2I and take a still.
I just wish I had time that day to tripod the camera and attach the telephoto lens, but nature doesn't wait for anyone.
Wanted to add one more from May 23 near Clayton NM and Texline, TX of the long track tornado. I always wanted to capture something like this, so when the time came, I choked and didn't get my camera settings right. But, after alot of processing and some HDR work, I got a decent image out of a poor shot. Sorry for the noisiness. I thought it an interesting pic and wanted to share.
First picture is my panoramic from April 22, east of Groom, TX. Sucks that the winds were howling, kept moving me around and I couldn't get the shots lined up good enough, causing that misalignment in the middle. Still one of my favs.
Of course this picture, the one I'm going to beat to death. May 24, 2010 just north of Spearman, TX. This was a shot I've always wanted to get, one of those "dream shots" that come once in a lifetime.
Just for good measure, an honorable mention to my twin nighttime tornadoes near Stratford, TX on May 18, 2010. It was my first time attempting to photograph a tornado at night.
