Only saw 1 backlit tornado this year. Everything else was nice and rainwrapped, or might as well have been. First one is the Bison, KS tornado.

2nd, as everyone knows is Quinter #1

Dispite having an excellent year in terms of tornadoes I didn't do a very good job of photographing them. All the images below a video captures. They are better than my pictures.

I'm in the same boat, despite purchasing a DLSR and quality lens, I'm pretty much empty handed on quality still pictures, despite seeing countless tornadoes this year. I was always either to excited, to close or chasing storms moving to quick to bust out the SLR. I still favor video over pics anyway, though I wish my HD cam would take a little better video grabs. Glen elder would probably be my best but don't have a grab handy, this was still pretty cool...

I am assuming you many any image including video stills. My best is of the 2nd May 23 Quinter tornado crossing I-70.

I really like the detached meso on this one.

My favorite of the year.

Felt closer than it was. Wicked RFD on this one.

Like others I am in the video still boat.

May 22 WaKeeney Wonder

South of Wakeeney, Kansas, very late in the day on May 22. Not quite as sharp as I'd like it to be, but the late day light provided a surreal glow behind the tornado. We paid for this intercept by being slammed with the hook a couple minutes later.

Below is a photo of me shooting the tornado pix above (courtesy Virginia Tech student Jordan Rollins, sitting in the back of the van) ... you'll recognize it in my sig as well ...

May 26 near Pratt, KS: We were fairly close to this tornado, which doesn't look like much here - although it did look fairly good on another chaser's video from further away. It may look like a rain shaft, but tornadic circulation was definitely there. A weak tornado over a grass field won't show much debris.

May 29 near Kearney, NE: A satellite tornado of the larger tornado that struck Kearney. This pic is a bit blurry but a debris swirl underneath the funnel was definitely visible to the eye.

Here is a shot of the rain and dust wrapped Kearney tornado, although probably not the greatest shot.

I pretty much have some of the same shots for my best of the year, the rope tornado on May 22nd, then its' following large multi-vortex. Then the last one featured is the 23rd Quinter wedge (#1) which there is at least a dozen pictures of already up here.
