Snowbelts of the Great lakes continue to be dumped on this Fall. Northern Michigan snow belts generally have snow on the ground about 50% of the Winters. This has been and will likely continue to be a very snowy Winter with the weak La Nina pattern that has set up.

Couple of pics from Antrim Co, Michigan where about 16" of snow are on the ground.

Yeah well..if you do..you find that there isn't many supercells to chase as a rule! (I think the only exceptions to that are probably the Front range in Colorado and perhaps the Black Hills..ie 2 very snowy areas that are adjacent to some nice chasing areas. )

It started to snow around November 9 and has snowed on at least a dozen days since with snow totals close to four feet in a small area between Mancelona and Gaylord. (Lot of it has melted, compacted etc.)
Keep in mind that the snowbelts are very narrow so only about 1 county area has actually seen a lot. (Inside the white area next to the 160) http://www.crh.noaa.gov/apx/snow/snowfallAvg.php

I am expecting as much as 2 new feet to fall starting tomorrow through next Saturday as really cold air finally heads South across the border. I will probably head back up here in this area next weekend to drive around and take some more pics.
