Today's Day 2 Convective Outlook on the SPC website is using a new acronym that I cannot figure out for the life of me. I'll copy and paste a sentence from the current outlook language ~ highlighting the acronym in question:

...CENTRAL PLAINS TO UPPER GREAT LAKES...
SCATTERED TSTMS IN CLUSTERS FCST TO FORM ALONG COLD FRONT BETWEEN WI AND ERN CO...SOME OF WHICH SHOULD PRODUCE SVR HAIL/GUSTS. PRIND LAPSE RATES WILL INCREASE WITH SWWD EXTENT IN PROXIMITY TO ELEVATED MIXED LAYER AIR...WHILE BOUNDARY LAYER MOISTURE WILL INCREASE NEWD FROM CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS TOWARD MS VALLEY.

What does PRIND mean?

Thanks,
Mark

PRIND = "present indications are that"

In my opinion PRIND is redundant because everything written in present tense is in fact based on present indications. You could omit it and get the same meaning.

Thanks Tim! It makes perfect sense now that I know what it means. I'm enjoying your Weather Map Handbook in learning how to use some of the maps I was unfamiliar with.
