• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Droid Signal Booster?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has found a good reliable signal booster for the Droid? I currently use the HTC Droid Eris to tether to my laptop while chasing. There were several times this year that my signal strength left a LOT to be desired - sometimes in locations where I typically had decent signal strength (I've read about other droid owners with signal issues as well). One of the problems I have is the fact the Droid doesn't come with a port to plug in any kind of antenna. I'm considering trying something like what I have linked to below though as it seems like something like this should work. Any input on this product or any other product that works would be appreciated.

Yeah...Ive got the same problems with my Droid. Im told that there is no external antenna hook up. Again, the Droid is a phone that does many things...none of them well.

We are waiting on FCC final approval of the new Maximum Signal wireless Amplifiers . They will work great with all the PDA's with no rF port . Preliminary testing has been off the hook.

Sounds good Gordon...any idea when they will be available or roughly how much they will cost?

Like I said , waiting on the goverment . The in vehicle will be around $300 , Will include everthing . Will be powerful enough to do up to a 45 foot rv and handle up to 10 devices at once. It has even more gain than our high power Rockies direct connect amplifier. And they are about 1/3 the size of our current cyfre direct amplifiers.

Sounds good Gordon...was just thinking you might have a rough idea how long the process takes with the FCC

No idea , it is all red tape . It passed all FCC lab tests over 3 months ago . The FCC are trying to shut down all amplifiers sales . These amplifiers actually pass all the new standards the carriers are pushing the FCC to implement. Major carriers have tested it and love it as well . So they are in Signal Control Technology's corner. I keep being told any day now. Once paperwork is complete I will have in about 2 weeks as the manufacturing facility here in the USA is ready to go.

I ended up purchasing the 'Wilson Sleek' that I have linked to in my first post in this thread. It has numerous reviews now that says it works. I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it yet though.

I ditched my direct connect amp in favor of the Sleek as well and I currently use it to boost my iphone signal while tethering. I can tell you that it works extremely well and my 3G range is significantly greater than it was prior (not to mention much stronger EDGE signal). If I am anticipating a chase in an area that is virtually void of AT&T service I activate a Verizon MiFi that fits perfectly into the amp cradle and also receives a significant boost in signal. Great little device for the $90 i paid for it, would recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to an expensive amp kit.
