Max Amp or WeBoost

Looks nice! Im not sure which power source you use Matt, but the DC adapter is more than likely defective and will require replacement. Please see the Maximum Signal FB page for the information. Sounds like replacements will be mailed once they're available to all who've already received their kits.

Yes. I got that email, so I will not be getting it fired up this weekend. Likely going to run the cables at least once though just so I know how everything will go in.

I like the black antenna and cables look of the kit, not that it affects performance, but it just looks sleeker than the old white ones. Good luck with your install.

I use the Wilson Mobile 3G booster. It works great everywhere i have been with it. (southern, northern central kansas, eastern arkansas, central and eastern nebraska.) I use it to boost the signal to both my cell phone and mobile hotspot (Straight Talk ZTE Z288C 4G LTE Mobile Wifi). Everything works great. Most of the time i had either a 4G or LTE connection. I wish i could find a cord for my booster to plug in directly to my hotspot.

The unfortunate part of using an old 3G amp is that none of your 4G or LTE signals are being amplified, so you're only getting the benefit of amplification at 3G speeds. I believe that's why most of us have been anxiously awaiting the new amps that cover the 4G, LTE, and xLTE signals. You should be able to find a direct connect cable, but it would be much better to consider one of the new amps and then assembling your build around the latest and greatest in technology. Let us know if you have questions or need additional help.

Well then that was a great item to invest money into. But on the other hand i am WAY more impressed with my hotspot. So that means then my hotspot was able to find a LTE and 4G connection, but when it was on a 3G connection then it was amplified. So guess not all bad?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't your Wilson amp a wireless version with an internal antenna that you place in your vehicle cabin? In the event it's wireless, there wouldn't be a way to directly connect your hotspot to the amp with a cable. In this type of setup your hotspot is finding any signal faster than 3G independent of the amp, basically using its own wireless radio.

If it's working for you there really isn't a need to upgrade, but if you want amplification on most, if not all speeds (including 4G/LTE), you'd need a newer generation amp that is capable of delivering it. You've come to the right place if you're looking for advice though, we have quite a few guys here who know the ins and outs of this technology.

I need some tech guys! I dont understand how some of this tech work. Yes my amp has an inside the cab antenna that is about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide. It does nothing but sit there. The instructions says to leave that piece by whatever you are trying to boost the signal to. (Leave it sitting next to my hotspot for example.) but i also have a phone cradle that my phone is able to sit in and get the signal boosted. But my phone really is not what i was trying to have boosted. Mostly worry more about my hotspot so i have radar at all times.

Someone please take Gordon's amp and the Weboost to 15 miles NW or Boise City and tell me if EITHER works :)

I will buy whatever works there :) My weboost didnt cut it up there yesterday!

I never lost LTE signal (Verizon) yesterday North West of Boise City. I use a weboost 4g-m with a Larid phantom antenna. Gordon is correct, my iPad has to be very close to the internal antenna to get full effectiveness of the amp. You are better off drilling a hole in your vehicle and installing a good aftermarket antenna. The weboost antenna that is included with the amps are junk.

my MS 4g/lte is on its way! I will have plenty of reports to offer on it. I will probably start a thread for reports once I get it and get a chance to test it in the places I go.

Gordon,

any chance you will issue a cradle version? looking for a cheaper option for just one phone

Sorry not at his time . Due to all new regulations and additional bands you have to cover . It is no cheaper to build a cradle or a direct connect model than the wireless. If there was a way to build a cheaper model we would . Be the way the FCC is now reviewing every product on the market . We were the first to pass the new standards . The units that were on the market before had permit but ask permits . Which meant at at any time the license could be revoked . Weboost/Wilson and Surecall spent lots of money on Lobbyists to get this . Under the umbrella it was a public safety issue . The product was needed. Who knows how quickly the FCC will move.. Surecall has had 2 licenses pulled so far . The carriers are pushing hard to get the products in question off the market. My source at the FCC said when it is all said and done we could very well be the last man standing . I will believe it when I see it.
