In my experience with ordering Tim's products, there was one instance when it took an inordinately long time to receive my order. But I did receive it. I have no qualms about Tim's integrity; my concern is with whatever may be going on in his life that has made him drop out of the communication loop. Gordon, I agree with Tyler's advice: contact PayPal. I'm about certain they'll refund your money. But in the event that doesn't happen, my sense of things is that Tim will eventually make good, assuming that whatever it is he's facing isn't life-threatening or incapacitating. We just don't know, and I'm not drawing any conclusions till I know more. With due recognition of the responsibilities involved in administrating Stormtrack, life can be brutal, and I hope it's not pulverizing Tim.

On the subject of Weather Graphics, I pre ordered(and paid for) his new edition of "Weather Analysis & Forecasting Handbook"...I received a email from Tim on Jan 14 saying that I was in the queue to receive a copy in the next few weeks and I still haven't received anything and now this has me a little concerned. Anyone else pre order this book and receive it yet?

Well, that is certainly worrisome. Tim has always been on top of his game at Weather Graphics. I hope it's nothing serious / life-threatening, but it sure sounds bad with wording like "Tim is dealing with some personal issues and will be away from Stormtrack indefinitely."

I probably shouldn't have used the word "screwed," because I'm sure it's not intentional on Tim's part.

One of the mods here was kind enough to give me Tim's Private email a few days ago . And he has not even responded to that . I have no idea what is going on but it must be pretty serious

On Tim's facebook page, there is nothing after about Feb 24th. He apologized about not behing able to do the forecast school in Denver and accepted some friend requests. Also nothing after Feb 24 on Weathergraphics. I did download a digital copy of his Stormchaser Handbook to keep on my laptop yesterday but that happens automatically. I hope Tim is all right. He is very honest and I think any lack of response is due something really bad happening.

I agree, Bill. Tim makes good. My gut tells me this is a time to rally around him and show him our support. How, I don't know, but I do have his email address. I'll send him a message and see what comes of it. Does anyone live close enough to his home in Norman to maybe give a knock on the door?

Addendum: Message sent.

Thanks to everyone here for the support . I have filed a claim with Paypal . Maybe this will make Tim appear . Still want to advertise here and support the site . Hopefully Tim will show up and make everything right . I hope at least he gives some of the mods here more control so they can keep this place going.

Going back through some things...I have an idea what it might be. It's speculative to say the least (so I'm not going to say right now), but I'm betting he's fine...and the situation is beyond his complete control at the moment. It could be some time before we see him or he is able to respond. Again, speculation.

Does this extend to his Weather Graphics venture as well? What if people order books? If he can still take care of that, why not take care of people who are paying for advertising and getting screwed?

I ordered his Storm Forecast Simulator a few weeks ago and got it in the mail the same week, fwiw. I think this was in mid-February.

Gordon, I'm glad you heard from Tim. Here's his response to my own email:

You may want to answer on my behalf and let them know that yes, I've been
away but that I'm fine and it is largely due to being temporarily overwhelmed
with offline responsibilities, family, and business work; this started back in
February and it does happen from time to time.

No users or moderators have contacted me off the forum about any problems,
and we're not even in storm season just yet (though soon), so if the forum is
intact and running smoothly then this is really a non-issue. Concern is ok but
any grumbling is not really appropriate as I'm not off Stormtrack voluntarily.

I will log in and post something as soon as I get a chance to do so.

Thanks,

Tim

I'm glad Tim's okay. This sounds to me like a communication glitch and suggests that Tim and the mods will need to hash out a procedure for when situations like this arise again in the future, as they will. It seems to be a reality of the kind of business he's in.

Normally this is just done via email, which I did send earlier this month. I sent Tim an email on March 6th and linked the other thread about the log-in problems. It probably got overlooked due to all of the other stuff that he has going on, but hopefully we can get some of these bugs resolved when Tim has some free time and can hop back on here.
