3-28-07 NOW: SD/NE/KS/OK/TX

Supercell merger in Gray County,TX. The newer supercell ate, for lack of a better term, the cell that passed just NW of Clarendon about an hour and a half ago. That storm is going to produce some monster hail. The line of storms is starting to fill in, with the storm just ahead of the line, startin to slowly rotate, NNW of Lubbock

NWS confirming separate reports of large wedge tornado on the ground just south of Bird City. This tornado just moved through the city minutes ago, unless it lifted up back into the sky (lets hope). But that doesn't seem likely.

There are now 2 hooks in Cheyenne Co. KS. Is it ok to post these images here? If not, I will stop.

So many classic supercells at once. Interesting to watch a national radar loop and watch this outbreak from that perspective. Tornado still on the ground N of Dodge City, KS. By far the most impressive storm tonight is that insane sup down in the tx panhandle that is now the dominating supercell and has won the king of the hill award in my opinion.

Actually, after looking at the data I wouldn't be surprised if the "DRC" in this case was debris. Massive velocity signature... colocated with a high reflecitivty core. I couldn't see any sort of prolonged descent after flippin through some of the 2d tilts. Beam height is only ~1000ft or so. Normally I would say it is some sort of appendage though and not debris ; )

It appears as though Bird City, KS took a direct hit from the large tornado. By the looks of things, it is not surprising to see this kind of report. Thought it is still diheartening,.

NWS LSR: DESCRIBED BY MEDIA AS 1/2 MILE WIDE TORNADO WITH POWER FLASHES. VIEWED FROM 2 MILES SOUTH OF MCDONALD LOOKING
WEST TOWARD BIRD CITY

Just watched a massive tornado sw of Grant NE, my first night tube. It was huge. It was on the ground for quite awhile in a large shape. It was quickly followed by another tornado, which is still half there...in OGA now.

To me it looked like the rear flank gust front. On both stroms their hooks eventually took on a gustfront look to them over the course of about 20 min. Also the KAKE spotter chasing these storms is still reporting both tornadoes are still on the ground with seperate tornadoes circling outside the main wedges. Both tornadoes have been on the ground for about an hr and 20 min.

Tornado still on the ground North of Bird City

Tornado is still on the ground. Report from Justin about 15 min ago reported 1/2 wide tornado with a side tornado rotating around large tornado. NOW HEADING SW BENKELMAN NE.

New development now taking place south of Colby and Goodland in Ness Co Ks. These storms are exploding. This is a major outbreak no doubt. Im sure were reaching close to 40-50 tornadoes already with this outbreak.

EDIT: Large wedge being reported with the storm W of Herold,Ks. Im not sure if this is a second tornado or the the original which would put that at +1hr 40min. That mega sup E of AMA has one of the fattest precip cores ive ever seen. They've got to have 3-4" diameter hail with that storm. OMG:O
