3-28-07 NOW: SD/NE/KS/OK/TX

The two tornadic cells S. of Benkelman have now merged, still with a very large hook & couplet, taking aim at Benkelman in the next 10-15 minutes. It looked as if the easternmost cell absorbed the weaker western cell. What a beast.

I'm nowcasting for Mark Farnick and he's taping a tornado coming thorough Benkelman. Apparently he has witnessed powerflashes in the city. He's on HWY-34 east of the city and is dring back towards the west. He was near Max as of a few moments ago. About to call GLD...

looks like there is some weak rotation in the southern most storm of the line west of lubbock. I wouldn't be surprised if this storm is tornado warned soon.

Tornado on the ground South of Laird KS

Tornado on the ground six south of Laird Kansas. I'm very concered about this tornaodo hitting the city of Laird KS. Shear over 140 MPH.

4.25" hail reported with the storm in Benkelman. Cell merged with the other St. Francis Cell. Waiting to get more word from Mark. This thing has done quite a bit of damage to the south near Bird City. I almost got him to go there....thank goodness we changed those plans.

Where is Laird, KS located near? and I believe you are right that it's been on the ground since goodland, maybe even further south of there around 7:00 Central time down around Sharon Springs in Wallace County if I'm not mistaken or that storm was at one point down there. At 8:05, tornado was reported 5 miles WSW of Tribune. I believe this is the same cell. Times are central time.
