Which radar site and what time did you see that? I'm having trouble seeing the same thing. So far everytime I've noticed a detached appendage on that cell its appeared to be associated with a DRC.

any body got any info out of Graves County, KY? i just got back from work and saw spc that a reported tornado touched down near mayfield. i've got family in mayfield and a lil bit west of there in that area but cant reach any body!

WBKO 13 out of bowling green, KY is reporting a spotter reports tornado in Dawson Springs!
EDIT: Now WBKO reporting widespread damage in west louisville in Daviess County, KY!

I am really concerned about Owensboro right now. That storm has some major rotation (and it's been present through a number of scans). It looks like it will pass very near downtown. I'm in storm chat with a group of people who are watching this on a live streaming webcam from ABC Channel 25 and they are saying this funnel/tornado looks very big. I can't confirm, as I am not able to watch streaming video with my crappy dial-up connection. But I just wanted to pass along what they are saying.

Owensboro concerns look warranted as couplet is intensifying nearly directly over the city from the latest SRRV scan..... ouch..... They need to be taking cover without any hesitation at this point.

damage reports just keep coming in. in Daviess county reports of mobile homes destroyed in west louisville, 10 mi SW of Owensboro.

News 25 reports Owensboro some what spared of major damage. West Louisville has injuries. Crews on the scene. News 25 stream excellent!

Wow, good 88d data on a tornado is being collected by IWX attm... A tornado is currently on the ground only 11 mi NW of the KIWX radar in N IN. In fact, one of the first times I've seen this outside the Plains:
SpotterNetwork shows Adam Lucio (Stormtrack member, IIRC) following this supercell, and there's a SpotterNet report of "debris all over US 6 east of kappanee" (it should be Nappanee).
The 0.5 degree tilt data is about 650 ft above ground level, so the very strong rotation show on SRV1 was likely the tornado itself (as opposed to the mesocyclone). The latest radar scan shows this rotation has weakened... I'm a bit surprised to see a tornadic supercell that far north given that CAPE is likely extremely minimal up that-a-way.

Tracked tornado through Nappanee with Adam Lucio and Matthew Fischer, very widespread damage... I saw what I believe to be a minimum of EF2 damage throughout city... more info soon.

Yikes, hope that storm passes south of Cincinnati far enough. That cell is in a good location out front like that too. (Also, that storm looks to b-line for the radar too, so may have another close radar strike. )

Very strong squall line heading for Nashville. SVR Storm Warning from KY Line to AL Line, very long warning, includes many counties, take a look. Certainly the largest single warning I've ever seen. The storms appear to be pushing a gust front out ahead of them, so it'll get pretty wicked before too long.

The supercell NW of Flint, MI has gotten it's act together and is tightening up. Over the last couple of scans, it appears to be making an ever slight turn to the right. Rotation is evident in almost all heights of the storm. It is by itself, in that it is not part of a close cluster of storms. It has had a tornado warning with it for probably the past hour.
My only concern is that as it gets further north, it will start to get out of unfavorable conditions and start to weaken. Looks like no major cities are in danger until Caro, MI in Tuscola County.

Earlier tornaodes over Daviess and Hopkins Counties in KY have major damage throughout the area. Many structures are reported to have roofs off and there are many confirmed people trapped in debris.
