Most frequently consumed restaurant food while storm storm chasing?

While not exactly a restuarant, a great place to stop in for quick munchies is Quick Trip (QT) convenience stores. Especially prevalent across Kansas, these are very clean stores with efficient, friendly workers that offer a good variety. Generous soft drink fountains plus a plentiful selection of canned and bottled drinks. Delicious microwave burritoes. Tempting snacks such as pork rinds. Best of all is their bountiful candy selection such as big boxes of Mike and Ike's, Hot Tamales and even Lemonheads.

I don't get out to the plains and generally chase in the Southeast.

They don't call them "gas" station burritos for nothing . Ever heard of a shart :o?

McD's is out of the question for me. I'd rather eat a candy bar or bag of BBQ pork rinds and keep looking, but I usually keep a few apples handy to avoid the junk.
I normally only eat one good meal a day, so I try to make it worthwhile. Subways are everywhere and they are good, but the less common Quiznos is my favorite.

If time allows, Sonny's BBQ is great if you are ever down this way.

If I am in an area with a QT, that's where I'll usually stop. Otherwise, if I am in a hurry, usually McDonalds or another similar fast-food outlet; if not, perhaps a truck stop, especially one with wi-fi. Usually time considerations and chase needs take priority over meals, so I go for something quick.

Clyve & I have banned Subway from our menu (just don't like the taste...or smell...)...so we will eat either a hot dog or sandwiches (laced with jalapeno chips) for lunch, and for dinner if travelling will have whatever's handy depending on the time we get in to the hotel and whether we can actually be bothered....frozen food from Walmart if there's a microwave in the hotel (and icecream for desert!!), Long John Silver, Burgerking, Arby's, Wendy's and Maccas as a second to last resort - if we need 'real food' we will go find an Applebees, Perkins or Cracker Barrel for food resembling healthy....fortunately we have pretty strong stomachs and don't find that the changes in diet have an effect on us....

Subway is always good, though I often make a giant mess with their sandwiches. I end up at Wendy's a lot too, even though there aren't as many of them. I often pack stuff to eat, and have found that some homemade chili or Dinty Moore Beef Stew work as well.

I also found that if I get up early and eat a giant breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes, steak, sausage, pancakes, etc), sometimes I won't need to eat the rest of the day.

Let me add a vote for Panera. Although their locations seem to be limited to suburban shopping areas, I enjoy stopping there for lunch on a chase day if time permits. It's quick, affordable, and there's always free wi-fi. I usually get the half-sandwich/half-salad combo to fool myself into thinking that I'm eating wisely. Nobody does faux healthy fast-food better!

This goes a little beyond the scope of the topic, but on a down-day or pre-chase, I always try and stock up on "regular" food from a supermarket and keep it in a cooler. Ice is cheap and almost every gas station has bags of it, so running out is never an issue. Throw a couple days worth of veggies, cold-cuts, and a few healthy snacks in there and you're good to go. Never wait in line, it's cheap, and it's always in your vehicle if you want more. For $10-$20 I can get 3 days worth of food (bread, deli meat, fruit/veggies, etc.).

Otherwise, it's Subway all the way for me.

Breakfast at a Hampton Inn (my hotel of choice) is usually enough to take care of me for the whole day. They offer a nice complimentary spread that includes cooked options (sausage, omelets, etc.) as well as a wide variety of standard breakfast fare. The convenience as well as the quality of food makes it my choice of meal preference and it usually frees up the rest of my day from having to stop for food. If I don’t stay at a place serving a decent breakfast then I’ll usually go the Subway route if I eat lunch, otherwise I’ll just snack all day and then indulge in a burger & fries from Wendy’s or BK after the end of the chase. Not a big fan of McDonald's but it'll do if it's the only game in town.

I don't get the chance to travel west of Iowa, so pardon my ignorance, but I have only ever seen them in Iowa. I know as soon as I return to Illinois they disappear! But, according to kumandgo.com they have locations in all of the great plains states except Kansas! good to know if I ever make it on a true tornado alley chase.
