Just got an email Milllenicom rates are going up to $89.99/month (with 20 gig cap) starting May 1. What other plans are people using these days? May shop around since this will be $30/month bump in price with my old plan no longer offered.

Cellular represent not only how I get internet while chasing, but also at home too since I live in a rural location. If I was just using it for 3 months I might not care as much.

Yes, I got the same email. Not happy. That's a dramatic price increase for what I use it for so I'll keep it for prime chasing in May, then cancel and find something else.

That does suck but I'm afraid there will still be nothing in the same ball park available anywhere in terms of per gig rates for the foreseeable future. soon, it's almost cheaper to buy multiple "lines" (devices) and move to a large shared data plan.

Geez what was it $70 for 80 gigs (or was it 60 gigs?)? Now $90 for 20 gigs? WTF? Talk about inflation. I guess their data usage was far higher then Verizon cared for and Verizon really put the screws to them ... plus "inflation", no doubt.

You'd think they'd give you at least a little discount on the subsequent blocks of data given that all of the billing and overhead is already paid for in the base block.

I guess that shows that Millenicom rates were either artificially low, or they looked at their numbers and could not afford to keep the rate, or, they just signed a new deal with Verizon, et al. and due to all the data hogs that their accounts probably are, couldn't get very good pricing. It's probably disappointing for people but it shouldn't be a surprise. You can't be that much lower than the market rate without something giving... Will be interesting to see where people end up with AT&T vs. Verizon.

I'm assuming it's Verizon's doing, and if I had to guess, they don't want resellers undercutting them as much. Even with the price increase, you're still getting a better deal than buying no contract data directly from Verizon, which is $90 for only 10 gig.

I agree for the amount of data, they still have good rates. I just have a hard time juistifying $90/month. I've been looking at plans with smaller caps, and considering how much data I really use.

Perhaps someone could download a utility such as BitMeter and run GRLevel3 and do their normal chase day web browsing for 12 hours and monitor the data usage and that might give them a better idea of what they really use and need. And perhaps report the findings? Honestly, I never monitored my usage over several days or a month. But I suspect that the amount of data BitMeter reports and the amount of data Verizon reports will be 2 different things entirely.

The guys who stream really have no choice but to buy in "bulk"

Millenicom is my only internet as I live in a rural area also and soon to be very rural. I've never complained about the 60 dollar price really and it has been great for chasing. This past trip I drove from TX to KS to Southern MO and down through Arkansas and never once lost signal or data. But for the amount of data I use, I may be better off going with Verizon. If I'm not mistaken I can get a 4g wireless device and 5 gigs for 50 something dollars. That was last year though when I was looking into it. I would just have to limit my home use, especially the tornado clips in May, haha. It's the stupid videos that eat up all the data.
