• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I have a new toy for macro to replace my cobbered up extension tubes and diopters. Ten points if anyone recognizes it.

Still waiting for bugs to start coming back though. The biology professor at college has some tarantulas, so I shot those. Not exactly macro, but still pretty cool.

Nice, Mike.
Yea, I recognize the old Vivitar 90mm macro. Is that the one that comes with an extension tube and will reach 1:1 with it?
Most of their Series 1 stuff was top notch! I've got a mammoth 70-210/3.5 Series1 zoom in Canon FD that I still occasionally use. The thing is almost too well built; my FD 200/2.8 - hardly a modern poofy plastic item - is notably lighter. On the upside, it will be useful as a cudgel if I'm ever attacked by a mountain lion during one of my desert mountain wanderings...

Yesterday I got the bug to photograph micro-lightning and have cannibalized a piezo-sparking grill lighter for use as a spark generator. Results soon - stay tuned. :)

You people are amazing photo takers! WOW!

Thanks!

What camera would you recommend for storm chasing for under $500?

Honestly, I would strongly consider buying a gently used Canon Rebel XTi w/a lens. It really is a fantastic camera that got me through a few great years of fun photography. You can get the body for a few hundred and for storm chasing, I would recommend a gently used Canon 10-22mm lens. Great piece of glass!

More macros! That tarantula is freaking unbelievable!

Meant to post these here long ago but don't think I ever did. One can see some pretty cool things with a macro lens, high ISO, and some good zaps(static).

The "almost zaps" still fascinate me. Blue puffs off things if you are careful enough.

I've been debating the purchase of a 105mm 2.8 macro lens but decided to put it off until I'm more out of debt ... definitely worth the cost though because it takes brilliant photos.
