I'm guessing it is a cultural thing - I am female, English and middle aged - and maybe I did not pick up the resonances. Anyone care to outline for me what episode one is supposed to be about?

Well I'm male, English and not quite middle-aged and am not sure what it's all about. I did however think the 'land of many wives' was a nice touch. The production work wasn't bad. It looked as if it might be mildly entertaining. Nicely done and I look forward to seeing where it all leads.
