Good day all...

Mods: Feel free to move this where it belongs as I was not sure where to post this.

The link below is one I am ready to remove on You-Tube due to offensive comments / flaming by viewers.

Simply, it was a tornado tossing a semi-truck during the early morning of March 9, 1998 in S Florida (during El Nino of 97-98).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcFcwyxeJ8U

Please review the comments on the link above, as I cannot post those comments on this site because it might be very offensive.

I also have several other EXTREME videos, one of the May 23 Quinter storm, which is far more dramatic - Abeit, much "nicer" comments although I nearly died that day.

I do not know what is up with storms in FL, but a tornado is a tornado, and anyone gets excited "gay" or "not"!

The tornado link above on Youtube will be deleted, so no one will see it again ... Remember Junior high? One person is bad, the whole class suffers?

Any links / logs pertaining to this March 9, 1998 event can be found on my official chase site (www.sky-chaser.com/stormc.htm).

I get stupid stuff like this on all my youtube videos. Just monitor your comments and hit the spam button on inflammatory ones. I know it's a pain in the rear to have to always check in on them but that's just part of the price you pay to show video, pics, opinions or anything else on the internet.

Chris, about 50% of YouTube users are as dumb as a box of rocks. But it also has a good share of sharp and generous users. I have a pretty diverse assortment of videos and you can definitely see the distinction looking at different clips. I would just ignore it or delete the dumb comments. You can also turn the comments off on individual clips and shut 'em up.

Just change it so you have to approve comments like I do on my videos.

Also there is now an audio preview button on youtube so you can listen to your comments, I wonder how many will use it.

if i was you, chris i wouldent even pay attention to that stuff...your one of the best storm chasers out there bro, and me and countless others love your work, that sky chaser site is one of my favorite chaser sites simply because of the way you use your language and writing...you cant let a couple assholes prevent you from sharing your content, because if you did what would that say?

hey, ill put it to you like this man you aint the only one who faces adversity...just a couple days ago, i spent alot of time and effort preparing a write up for this very forum, complete with screen captures and everything...not 15 minutes of it being posted, i was disrespected, accused of teaching people to steal software and i even had my thread locked

i know how that feels, bro...makes you just want to walk out of a place that wont respect you or your work, but im still here!

dont let anyone change the way you are, or how you operate man...your one of the best!

If you don't set your comments to moderated, you'll get this on any type of video you post. I have videos of family pets on there that people try posting flames on. Just set your comment options to require your approval and you can just delete the bad ones before they even show up.

I wouldnt let it bother you. People on youtube love to hate. On my video of the tornado crossing I-57 my voice sounds a little...weird...because my mouth was swollen and bleeding from oral surgey I had that morning...and theres a bunch of comments like "ITS NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE THE STORM CHASER" and "This guy sounds like he has a bunch of donuts in his mouth"

lol...they dont bother me...ill even reply to some of them just for fun...like one guy who said "this guy sounds like big gay al from south park" I wrote back "yea but i dont look as good in a hat"...if you didnt see the movie you wont get it.

Anyways back to topic...posting to the net opens yourself up for a wide variety of opinions, and unfortunately anyone who thinks theirs matters will voice it behind the safety of a comptuer.

I favorited/left a comment on that video awhile ago...its an awesome video. Keep it up I say. Dont let the morons win.

I don't have time to get angry or offended by youtube comments, because I'm too busy being amazed those people can type in the first place.

Good day all,

Yeah ... You guys are right - The "audience" at YouTube is RADICALLY different to the professionalism of storm track (with no moderation what-so-ever).

Rather keep the link up and just ignore it ... Also interesting, the guy or who-ever "flamed" me had the courage to say "sorry dude" ;-)

Just like I said ... Junior high, no more, no less...

Thanks!

Chris, I love the video and you certainly should not let a few comments get to to you.

Any mature person reading the comments would dismiss them outright for what they are and it is the writer that is reflected poorly ( except in his/her own infantile delusion).

If it continues to be a problem, just stop allowing comments on the videos that you post. Great footage, however. It really drives home the dangers of night chasing.

Most of us can empathize with you. Yes, it's hard to ignore these ridiculous comments, but try and do just that. If YouTube were a McDonalds, the comments section would be its playground.

99% of your visitors don't even pay attention to the comments section. Personally, I don't think the comments add anything to the overall YouTube experience and would be happy to see it removed alltogether.
