Like many, I didn't get the honor to meet Eric, but I wish I had. I'm truly saddened by this tragedy of one of our own. I will keep his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers. Eric, I hope you are in a paradise full of supercells and meteor showers my friend. Carry on...

I am very sorry to hear this, my thoughts and prayers for him and his family

I too am very saddened by the turn of events. Eric has inspired many individuals without even personally meeting them...I am one of them. May you rest in eternal peace.

I just got the word on Eric's passing. Jon and I extend our sincere sympathies to his wife and family. I will miss him very much, and never forget him. :(

I just read about it this morning while waking up and going through my e-mail. My memory is not very good for conferences 5+ years ago yet I remember Eric very well at the 2002-2004 National Storm Chaser Convention in Denver. He took a couple of my forecasting courses and was not only soaking up the material but didn't hold back from asking a couple of questions.

Let in never be said that Eric didn't have some serious passion for life and the things around us. :)

My condolences to Eric's family and friends, it is apparent that he had an impact on the lives of many and he will be missed dearly. I am saddened that I never had the opportunity to meet him.

I am greatly saddened to learn of Eric's passing. The chase community has lost not only a great chaser, but also a great friend. While many of us didn't know Eric personally (including myself), we felt like we knew him: his enthusiastic, friendly and insightful posts to this forum will be sorely missed. My prayers are with Eric's family and friends during this very difficult time.

We used to chat via pvt messages and he told his desire was to come in Italy to Florence with his family, and he had a daughter who studied in Venice and went to see his aunt outside of Venice several times.
I'm sorry we couldn't meet you on a chase in the Plains. My prayers go to you and your family.

I did not know him real well but I did get to speak to hime one the phone about a year ago. He seemed like a very nice guy and was interested in his work. My heart goes out to his family.

For those interested, Sue-Ellen posted this today about tomorrow:

Today I am feeling rather lost. Even though there is still a list of things to do, I am not getting ready to see Eric, which is something I have done nearly every day for the past 3 months. In some ways I have missed Eric being Eric for all this time, but this is very different. There are many reminders of him as I go through the day.
Today we will be getting ready for friends and family who plan to be here from out of town and take care of any last minute things.

I don't know whether this is politically correct, but Eric loved technology and a good friend of Eric's will be setting up a webinar for those of you who would want to be able to be at shiva but would not be able to attend due to distance. Shiva service will be at about 7pm (central standard time) Thursday March 4, so here is the information that was sent to me. We shall see if it works.
