Anyone suggest how to have this done and possibly someone to go through?
I am having the letters put on my back windshield for the "Alabama Storm Trackers" and the web address just below it this afternoon and I think I need to get some Alabama SKYWARN stickers made to put on the back-side windows. Just curious to see if anyone else has done this or knows how to. Also, are magnets any good? Anyone that can make these online? Thanks! :)

This is where I've had stickers and magnetic signs made:

You can upload the artwork online and make as few or as many as you'd like, although it gets cheaper per item with increased quantities.

Local signmaking companies do this. There should be several in your town. Shop around for the best prices, the chains (Fast Signs, etc) tend to be more expensive.

While vinyl decals are cheaper, you might want to consider magnets, which can be removed whenever you want a normal-looking vehicle. Most sign places can do them. I had magnets made for my old logo and they've lasted for 2 years with no problems. I had three made, two large 3' by 7" magnets for the doors and one 12" x3" for the back. The total was about $270 with color logo printing and weather sealing included. I'm getting ready to have another set made for my new logo.

I designed my own logo and gave the graphics to the sign company on a CDROM, which they used to make the magnets.

You guys had better luck with magnets than I did. I could never keep them on because they were most of the time stolen in parking lots.

We had a local company make ours. Not quite as fancy as those seen above. The only trouble I had with the magnets though was I kept losing the one's on the side of the vehicle. The one on the back made it through Ok though.

I'm looking to get some new one's made though for the sides. Like Brett, I'll look into the magnets again and see where it goes. I might try someone lese and see if they can do a better job of making them stick! :p

For the reaer window, you might take a look at Glass Scapes. Their a full window see through type decal. They won't be inexpensive, but if you can find someone that does custom work, they can really send a message. I'm hoping to have one done with a lightning shot a made a few years ago and the station logo over that. Match that up with the vehicle paint and it should be awesome!

The silver background material they used for mine so closely matches my car's paint that you can barely tell it's a magnet. My mags never moved at all, and I'd had them on for months through hurricanes, snowstorms, ice storms and many, many downpours. They never budged. They said that they should be removed and cleaned every week to make them stick better, but that eventually got to be too much of a hassle. Lack of weekly cleaning didn't affect their adhesion at all.

Just thought i would jump in here and state that I own a local sign company here in Austin, Tx and can ship anything sign wise wherever. I made all the stickers for the back of my truck... Of course i cant sell copywrited stickers (such as NWS, SPC, Skyawrn logos) but i can certainly draw up a custom design... If there's any interest, PM or E-mail; [email protected]

Seeing as how your tax dollars paid for those logos they should be in the public domain, especially the SKYWARN sticker.

Do you have a minimum lot requirement for custom logos?

nope, there is no minimum lot (we try to stay away from "onesies and twosies" but if we have the vinyl colors we will certainly so them.) If it has the copywrite logo, i cant print it without the rights *legally* but as far as i know i havnt seen it on Skywarn logos and such. I have printed some for my truck only but i'll do some research on those specific rights.. And David, you are right, they should be public domain, and I will find out if that is true or not..

There's no copywright on government products. You can print it, copy it, change it, and even sell it.

For those of you who are not artistically inclined there is a cool logo design company called Logoworks. If you are willing to shell out some money they will make a totally custom design for you. After a few rounds of revisions you get all the artwork.

Avery makes a weatherproof label. They only issue is the max size is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". I made a geocaching sticker for my truck and the color HP Laser at work and it lasted 3 years with minimal fading. (I sold the truck after 3 years.)
