5/23/06 FCST: KS / NE / SD

Dan Dawson, Gabe Garfield, Brandon, and myself are in Salina right now, wifi'ing it at the Hampton. All plans are to head northward towards the KS/NE border soon. Not much of a cu field here, though sat shows healthy cu just to our west and norhtwest. Tds dropped into the 59-62F range, resulting in high LCLs and LFCs. We're a little concerned about the possibility of strong cold pools from evaporational cooling with the relatively dry sub-cloud mean RH. Deeplayer shear looks fine down here, given more westerly 500mb flow compared to locales from central NE northward.

Just got to Mitchell, sitting at days inn getting updates. One cell to the north that had an overshooting top. Saw some towers going up as I rounded the corner at Sioux Falls.
