• Happy birthday to Stormtrack! The newsletter was founded on this day in 1977, which makes the community 47 years old this year! The community has evolved dramatically from a small group of enthusiasts (a combination of "yahoos" and some folks who were beginning to try to understand how tornadoes form and why) as a paper-based newsletter to the online forum today with a few thousand members.

Remember that we are still planning to assemble some kind of 50th anniversary anthology for 2027. The hope is to include short-form essays on a variety of topics spearheaded by those most involved, chaser profiles, a timeline of the forum, and other highlights. Please consider contributing some material, whether it be merely your own story of storm chasing or otherwise.

Looking at the models, they really don't show much. However, DVN's noon HWO shows:

AT THIS TIME...THE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE SOME
LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND POSSIBLY ISOLATED TORNADOES.

DMX's HWO is similar.

So anyone think anything's going to come of this?

The 6 AM HWO from DVN still maintains a threat but it's on Friday. Still mentions possiblility of tornadoes and large hail.

Models still aren't showing any severe risk other than heavy rain. I wonder what's going on.

I think there definitely is some possibility on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, I think strong and severe storms will develop from Illinois southwestward to Missouri and Arkansas. Also strong to severe storms may form father east into Eastern Illinois and Indiana. The storms may form into a mcs and move across parts of Illinois and Indiana overnight Friday with isolated damaging winds and expecially heavy rainfall.

Severe storms on Saturday are also possible but that threat hinges on the amount of cloud cover left from Friday Night's Storms.
