3-28-07 NOW: SD/NE/KS/OK/TX

Looks like the CU field near Ogallala, NE, may be starting starting to pop. Both KGLD and KLNX are showing a shower there, and the sat representation shows the CU getting mighty crowded. Surface obs point to some convergence there, too.

Really like what im seeing with the storm in Collingsworth co. Storm motion is almost due n right now. once this thing gets well rooted and starts showing mature signs of rotation this thing wont take long to cross the TX/OK border.

Hopefully David Drummond is able to catch the Collingsworth County, TX cell. It is rapidly becoming severe and is one to put the money on for a good show. Tops building from 18,000 feet to 26,000 feet in the past 5 minutes.

D.D. is just North of the cell (in fact he is currently just east of plainview - moving East)

looking at Storm motion David will do well to get in front of the cell before it races North and over takes him (I am watching Davids positon in near real tme from 5000 miles away here in the UK!)

FYI: AMA radar is now switched over to Precip mode.

Also, using SPC Mesoanalysis data, the rapidly forming TRW cell that is becoming severe is already in the maximized area for a "Strong" Tornado potential with LCL's around 1000 Meters. MUCAPE is near 3500 J/KG.

I would put my money on the one near Floydada. Rapidly increasing top, thats and inmpressive rate, compared to what I see in Florida on a summer day. That one is likely to start rotating within I'd estimate the next 15-20 minutes. LPATS is showins its lightning activity is starting to escalate.

I'm sitting amidst a large chaser convergence in Shamrock awaiting cell maturation to our south-southwest. Even if the cell to our immediate south doesn't hold, I'm not worried given the further development upstream near Floyd county. Current mesoanalysis indicates strong instability extending quite a ways into OK, and the latest RUC I looked at (18z run) indicated 400-575 m2/s2 0-3km SRH over western OK by 0-3z. Game on.

For the northern target, all parameters are really focusing in on that Hwy 83 corridor from North Platte to McCook & points south. LCL's are 1000 & drop from here and points east, along with 0-1 KM SRH now building to 200 close to N.P.......Nice nose of 2000 MLCAPE pointing right here, as well. It's coming together....

Some very slight rotation showing up due east of Plainview on the latest GRL3 BV1 scan. To be precise, the location would be just near the town of Aiken.
