I think their noon landfall is based on previous information. Of course a slight westward jog could make several hours difference.

The westward wobble you see is just after a eastern wobble. I am plotting it on GRlevel3 and the current location is still slightly east of the projected path.

XM 247 LIVE RADIO GUSTAVE COVERAGE

Those with XM radio can listen to live coverage from New Orleans radio on XM 247 along with the latest updates from NHC.

Ahhhh okay, I just walked in about an hour ago and fired up KLIX so am behind on the history right now. Interesting live video on WVUE (per CNN) wave action on Lake Pontchartrain is pretty turbulent with landfall a couple hours away.

Interesting...CNN reporter stationed in Grand Isle.......good luck with that lol

LIX RADAR CURRENTLY DOWN DUE TO TRANSMITTER PROBLEM. TECHS WORKING TO RESTORE ASAP.

Stephanie Abrams from TWC seems sure to get some decent winds (but not as potent as the CNN guy Ali Velshi in Grand Isle--reporting right now actually, bay flooding) in Morgan City, LA. She claimed levees over there are ready for 8 ft. storm surge but as MSNBC reporter noted who interviewed her, storm surge could be up to 14 feet. 956 MB, still holding at 115 mph moving along NW (west of NO) at 16 mph about 118 miles from LA.

Where are they located on Grand Isle? City Hall is the only safe place there, but their satellite truck is won't be protected. There is a Coast guard station there, but all the buildings are on ground level. I wouldn't trust all the beach houses there.

Looks like the Eye Wall is just hitting Grand Isle or just south west of where the guy from CNN is. I would rather be further inland then on one of those barrier islands. I expect the eye to make landfall around 6:30 am CDT

He's standing out near some deck near the water it looks like. 954 MB now still 115 82 miles away. 117 gust reported earlier 50 miles from Ali's position. Some reports of roofs off. On cnn right now--can't find livestream to his location from cnn.com, though there is one to NO. The interviewer is pointing out average height is 7 feet on grand isle and "why in the world" he would "ride out the storm here." Looks like he's at a house-- 2nd level of it of a guy in the shrimping business who built a steel-reinforced building after Katrina. Said he's heading inside shortly. Hmm. [turns out that gust was 79 feet above sea level: WITHIN THE PAST HOUR...A STATION IN SOUTHWEST PASS LOUISIANA
REPORTED A SUSTAINED WIND OF 91 MPH...147 KM/HR WITH A GUST TO 117
MPH...189 KM/HR...AT AN ELEVATION OF 79 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL.--that was 5 am CDT update]

I saw the CNN report. The guy is nuts. This is his first hurricane. At least CNN was smart enough not to leave a Satellite truck with him. I can just see it when they dropped him off and left saying "good luck, nice knowing you." I wonder if his life insurance is paid up.
The road leading to Grand Isle will likely be washed out in many places. I imagine his only way off within a couple of weeks will be by boat.

I don't get direct TV but found this link that streams WDSU:

and Ali is still broadcasting on CNN but you can't hear what the heck he is saying.
only 110 mph now ( think it was Chad Myers who was in the newsroom via latest observations) so not cat 3 anymore (shucks eh?), 105 at Grand Isle
[update, Ali is inside now, and you can hear him]
