  • After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I'm a rule breaker; here's a second one that I couldn't decide between taken July 17th looking east into Indiana.

OMG, Andrew, I often read about positive lightnings and the possibility that they could hit many kilometers away, but this is just outstanding!

To me this lightning could have hit the ground at least 5 kilometers away from the cumulonimbus or even more. It's really impressive.

This is one of my only and by far best lightning shots that I have ever taken. I took it on a little simple Casio point and shoot and did it purely by luck!

I took the photo on Sept 15th on the Greenwood County, KS supercell that was spitting out an insane amount of CG.

Was that at the JCT of 400 and the Fall River Road?

Thought so. I was in the white van. This might be the other part of that shot as a few landed behind me. The vehicle is yours or whoever else was there.

Then I must ask if you got the rain wrapped funnel/tornado just before that which I caught a few miles East?

I could see it but the camera I had with me on this day was unable to capture it. I was also not in my Jeep and my chase partner's window tint made it nearly impossible to see out of with the camera I was using.

It is rare for me to shoot still photos. I typically only capture video with my Canon XH-A1s. I do plan on buying a Canon SLR once I can afford one.

I was in the white Suzuki SUV with the decal on the side doors.

I followed one of you pretty much back to Fredonia, I was gonna pass but couldn't quite figure out if that was a cop in front of you or the other person. LOL. I went South of Fredonia where I let it finally run me over. On the way back through it was flooded pretty bad with trees and a pole down over the highway. But yes that lightning was amazing and very close. I have a few on my flickr.

Best Lightning Shot of 2010

Spent almost all day waiting atop the Sandia Crest in hopes of seeing a freight train of summer storms push through the Albuquerque area. It was all worth the wait. Here are one of the best of the day. It was so awesome watching the sun setting with lightning striking all around, and the big beautiful yellow sky.

Enjoy and CC are always welcome.

Awesome Summer Storm Other lightning images are there in the gallery if you wish to explore a little,
