waterspouts in Dubai and / or Thailand ?

I will be in Dubai in late october and Thailand in november and wonder what my chances are for waterspouts, given the hot waters and approaching colder air masses ?

any website to recommend ?

any info to share ?

or , does anyone know of any stormchasers in Dubai , Abu Dhabi, or Thailand ?

Congrats bagging that spout with Dean, Olivier! That was quite a catch. I was especially impressed and disheartened to see that as I was in Venice two days earlier sightseeing with my wife. I kept an eye out for spouts (or at least interesting weather) for the duration of our cruise through the Mediterranean, but only saw some small cumulus over Italy that blew up into some distant, nocturnal thunderstorms... probably a sea breeze or upslope activity.

As for your question about Dubai and Thailand. I have no idea about the climatology of those two regions. I imagine the more tropical areas have a fair chance of seeing spouts anytime of the year as long as there is towering cumulus or cumolonimbus present. Those areas probably have dry seasons (during the summer?), although Dubai sounds like its dry much of the year. Keep us posted if you see any cool weather on your trip.
