So if I go into a Verizon store I can get 5GB for $50??? Is that a no contract plan? I really don't want a 2 year contract because I'd only be using it 6 or 7 months a year.
Maybe. The plan has no contract but I've heard conflicting accounts on what the price is. I've heard the 5GB 3G datacard no contract plan is $80/mo, $60/mo, and $50/mo. The 4G datacard plan is supposed to be $50/mo, and was supposedly cheaper than the 3G plan because they want you to upgrade. Again, you'll have to go into the store and see what they have. Know what you want ahead of time. Ask for 5GB of no contract data and expect $50/$60 for it. I wouldn't take it otherwise. You can buy a mobile hotspot from ebay for fairly cheap ($50-$150 depending on features), and then just get a Millenicom plan which includes a free datacard, is cheaper, has a lot more data, and no contract. You can certainly use Millenicom without a mobile hotspot too, and if you do a no contract plan with Verizon you can also use your own equipment (ie buy a cheap datacard from ebay for $20-$30).
Bottom line, for the most bang for your buck:
