Storms of 2007 Charity DVD!

One thing seems clear. Nothing says this has to be titled "Storms of xxxx" and be attached to any "rules" if one wanted to take it another route.

I guess I know I wouldn't want to take over any roles like that if someone would have such a control of things I wanted to do...especially when no one knows what that was in the last case.

Seems like a lot of people are gun shy from jumping into the lead position after the quick downward spiral and ensuing apathy.
I'll say. I haven't had a single private inquiry about taking over the project from anyone. I'm not sure if Verne or Jim has either.

I've been tempted, but seeing my upcoming work schedule, and various trips out of town and out of the country in the next few months, and the fact that my former DVD partner is soon to be a father, leaves me with very little time. I had intended to only contribute a small portion as my time allowed to this year's project.

So - none of the Storms of 200x veterans who know the ropes willing to take this on?

I'm sure there's a few, but control is probably the issue.

Having the responsibility of basically putting together a project this large/important isn't fun when you're being micro-managed by someone who isn't in the trenches. IMO, the only way to resolve this is to either (1) keep the original producers or (2) hand the reigns over to someone else who DOES have the time/schedule to oversee everything from production on.

This project has taken on a life of its own and is far more important than individual chasers, egos, or whatever. To be quite frank, I'm not at all excited about contributing this year because of the tension/BS that resulted from last year's version. But the cause is too great to worry about things like pride. As they say, it's time to s@#t or get off the pot with this SO2007 deal. If we need a new name, a "changing of the guard", whatever, let's get it done.

Or does it just die?

Are you guys still making this DvD? I was looking forwad to seeing it this year......

We've got a possible new lead producer stepping up (a chapter producer veteran). Details soon, if he chooses to do this, and he is a good choice.

I am very interested in contributing video for this years project but I won't be able to submit anything ontil after mid August as I just returned from Michigan and will be out the door within 48 hours again with the kids for Florida. I sure hope we can get a committment from some saavy computer/editing geek who has the time to do this... unfortunately, at this time, I don't fall into this category..... yet.

Especially for this cause I really hope someone will step forward.

I hope you can all remain positive and patient during this transition. One of the reasons why I personally haven't stepped up to the plate this year and last is an extremely busy work schedule. In fact, I was on business travel all last week, and have more coming up in the next few months.

Jim and I will be meeting with the candidate this week for lunch, and we are hoping to line up our original underwriter to fund the project. Sometimes, this takes time when people's schedules don't always line up, and that happens more often during the summer when folks are on vacation.

Hey guys, I really hope this project will go on. I have several of these DVDs, really a great thing!

I can also contribute with some videos from this season, especially from 05/08, 05/14 and from 05/19-05/23 days.

Excellent, I'm really hopeful now that this project can continue on. I will facilitate in any way I can to get the original list to the new producer, transfer materials, domain names, etc.

I would also like to produce a chapter and contribute video as well as do the sales at the NSCC '08 in Denver next year.

Hello all,

We are now back up and running on this project. I have chosen to take the project over as lead producer for this year’s SO200X series because I feel this project is far too important to let slip in to the darkness. Even for a single year. I want to thank Greg and Jim for giving me the opportunity to lead this project and for allowing this project to resume for yet another year.

I have no doubt that, together, each and every one of us can make this project successful in every aspect. From the actual production level all the way to marketing. I would like to see SO2007 be the best it can be and meet or exceed all expectations at every level.

I will be sitting down this weekend getting everything organized for this project and I will post more information for you guys no later that 10PM Sunday August 5 2007.

With that being said, co-producers please restart your video requests for each of your chapters. The sooner we have this process taken care of the better off we will be. That task seems to take a good chuck of our time.

Lastly, I was originally setup to produce the March 23 2007 and March 28 2007 segments. However, I am going to have to let another co-producer take over one or both segments. If you are interested in either of these segments please contact me at the email below.

Thanks

As you can see, there are now nine chapters that are looking for producers. Please don't be shy. This is for a great cause and it really is a fun project to work on.

Although we have more time to work on this project compared to the last few additions of the SO200X series there is still no time to waste. If by some miracle we could have production finished by early October, we will have a few marketing gigs towards the end of October that would really help boost sales.

However, I know how hard it can be to meet these short deadlines. I’ve been there and done that. None-the-less the final deadline for all co-producers to have their chapters in is no later than November 5 2007.

Again though, if we could have all chapters complete by at least October 10 2007 that would help bring in more sales.

If anybody has any question please feel free to email me or PM me at anytime.

Also I need to talk with someone about vBulletin. If anyone knows how to work with it please contact me as soon as you can.

Thanks,

Mick

Wasn't Eagle Pass on April 24th? Perhaps there was two events but I thought I remembered it being on the same day as Nickerson.

Fwiw, I already plan to contribute my April 24th footage, but also have good tripoded video of May 22nd if anyone should take on the production role.
