March 29 Weather Symposium to Help Ravaged Town Rebuild
Lincoln, Neb. -- A fund drive to help the town of Greensburg, Kansas, which was devastated by a tornado in May 2007, will be part of the Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium, March 29. The Symposium and family WeatherFest is an all-day event, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., in Hardin Hall, on the northeast corner of 33rd and Holdrege streets in Lincoln.
"Storms of 2007,” a DVD that includes the Greensburg disaster, will be showing in room 901 throughout the day. The DVD will be on sale in the lobby of Hardin Hall, with proceeds going to Greensburg. Two Kansas University students will also be on hand, exhibiting photos taken both aerially and at ground-level in the aftermath of the disaster.
Proceeds will go to Greensburg GreenTown (http://www.greensburggreentown.org/), a non-profit organization devoted to helping residents rebuild.
