50 GB of data per month for $50 a month.
Purchase of the StarLink mini is required.

You can also pause the service when you're not using it. No contracts required.

Note: You'll need a clear polycarbonate cover for the dish so it doesn't get damaged by hail.

The only complaint I've heard about it is when punching a hail core, you lose signal temporarily.

After having no signal south of Akron on Memorial Day weekend and the Matador fiasco when I couldn't get a single text out due to chaser/network congestion, I'm getting the StarLink ROAM and adding a Starlink mount and power supply to both vehicles and I'll swap the dish as needed.

I've had StarLink at the house for the past 3 years and I love it. Zero issues. It even has a built in infrared heater to prevent ice/snow build up. I activate the heater from Nov to the end of April.

I can't comment on the ROAM service, but I had the stationary service for quite a while, and it was excellent. What you posted above is definitely plenty of data, if used for chasing only, radar, internet, streaming, etc. That's a really cheap price too, and the ability to pause service whenever is definitely a plus.

I heard Reed Timmer has lost a couple to hail, but you mention a good option to prevent that above. I could definitely see losing signal temporarily under a hail core, but those times should be relatively infrequent. I think you are definitely making a very good decision on purchasing it. I haven't really thought of no signal due to chaser convergence, but definitely sounds like it could be an issue, and was an issue for you, as you mentioned. I think I will be purchasing it as well for next season. Looking forward to seeing other responses to this thread.

I got the idea for the polycarbonate cover from @Adam Lucio on his fb feed. He had a post up about it.

StarLinks stationary service is lights out the best internet I've ever had and it's blazing fast.

My days of competing for cell signal with chasing convergence will be no more.

StarLink is now installed in the RAV. Waiting on one more power cord and adapter from StarLink, then I can wire the Tacoma. Simply disconnect from the power cable and the whole mount/dish comes off. Easy swap to the Tacoma.




Hint: Use blue loctite on the threads for the magnets so the nut doesn't vibrate loose while going down the highway and you see your dish go flying off behind you.



I won't activate service until April or May when storm chasing season comes around. Then I'll turn it off for the season on Oct 31st.

Roam service can be paused for $5/ month.

Cell Phone Network Convergence and no cell signal is now a thing of the past.

PLUS I can use this while out off roading in the mountains.

Note: I will order a third adapter and cord in addition to a padded carry bag in the event I go chase with others, I can bring my StarLink with me and it's easy to keep it all together and deploy quickly.

The entire setup is so easy and the flexibility to swap between my vehicles in less than 90 seconds or take it with me and use in another person's vehicle makes this super convenient!
