• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Rental Car Companies?

Thanks for the info! I've always driven my own car while chasing, and my company dictates which rental company we must use. Your comments were very helpful.

rental car companies while traveling and GPS

When we fly into Providence; our our way to Southwest and Vegas; when I traveled to KC and Salt Lake City to travel to Grand Tetons and Yellowstone and some other times we use either Dollar , Budget or Enterprise worked out well. Alamo also synchs with Southwest Airlines and sometimes use that.

I go for the price and which is the cheaper. The freq miles don't matter to me for rentals.

Many of rentals have GPS for some cars.
How much do they usually cost per day and does it vary?
Do many of you already have GPS on your cars or with your computers so you all probably don't use it .
The new iPhones and iTouches have GPS.

I've used Enterprise a couple of times without any trouble. We have a local office close to home so I use them when the car is in the shop, etc. They don't have much of a selection but the rates have been reasonable. Basically I pick them out of convenience more than anything. I rented a specialty Jeep through them in Durango once without any issues.

I use Hertz through work. I don't have any complaints about their vehicles and they seem to have a good selection at the airport locations. However, the last few times I've rented, they have been very pushy about upgrades. They hooked my the first time, as I thought they were giving me a free upgrade. In the end they soaked me (my company, actually) for the upgrade to an SUV.

On the plus side, I missed a stop light once in Ohio and got T-boned by a dump truck in a Hertz rental. It was drivable so I took it back to the rental place and they swapped keys with me, no questions asked. I have a #1 Gold membership and they covered the damage 100%.
