• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hi. This year I would like to use my laptop in the car. What kind of mount can I use for this? I can't find a lot on internet when I google. I don't know exactly which car we get from the rental company. Can that be a problem?

A RAM mount would be ideal. You can get a universal mounting base for it that isn't as solid, but will work with a variety of vehicles.

I'll second the RAM mount. I had a universal mount for my 2016 Subaru Forester that was custom installed and it actually is VERY solid. I was living in Wichita at that time and took it to a local custom car shop (316 Customs) and they actually modified the base for my passenger seat rail. But the RAM mounts have been solid forever, and highly recommended.

No matter what mount u use, unless u put a pillow or towel between it and the seat or something, it will rattle a bit, unless u have a super smooth vehicle. Just a tip.

RAM is indeed good, my RAM cell mount is great.

I will also second the RAM mount. I have one in my Titan (the base in mine is specific to the first gen Titan/Armada) and it's held up to everything I've thrown at it over the past 6 1/2 years, to include some pretty substantial off roading.

The RAM does seem like the best choice for a temporary install. I still use my original Jotto desk that I bought in 2004. The Jottos are are very solid, but are more for a permanent mount, as they require either drilling bolt holes in the floor or making a custom bracket that attaches to the seat rails.

I love my Jotto Desk. No drilling required, it mounts using seat bolts. Having said that, it is specific for my vehicle model, so it may not work for you. I tried a cup holder mount once, and while it dies hold my laptop soldered over into a notebook, it was very floppy and I never chased with it. Anything more than a phone is too much for a cup holder mount.
