• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

During the climatologically warmest time of year, we're breaking record lows and record low maxima here in Iowa. The average high in Ames for yesterday was 87, average low 64, but we only hit 72, and dropped to 55 overnight. Other sites across the state have been well lower.

The system over the central US right now is amazing for July. What a trough! The 700 mb 0 C isotherm is over the Ohio river right now, and the 200 mb trough axis goes all the way to the Gulf coast. Not usually what you'd expect for this time of year.

If anyone else has been experiencing record cold for this time of year or has seen reports, share them. I'm curious as to how unusual this type of weather pattern is at this time of year.

We are about 25 miles south of lake Michigan .we were cold enoughFriday night and Saturday morning for lake-effect rain. This is unheard of in July
We were in the low 50's.

Through July 18, the avg. temp in Madison, WI for the month of July has been just over 65 degrees, more than 5 degrees below average. On both July 17 & 18 the record low maximum temperature was set in Madison as the temp only reach 66 each of those days breaking the previous record of 67.

Lincoln NE has set record lows back to back to back mornings now.

17th - 49
18th - 50
19th - 51

Others have of course been broken here but that was just the 3 in a row I could find. Surely doesn't happen too often to get 3 in a row.

I found it!!

All of the heat you folks are missing for your areas is sitting right outside my front door here in southern Arizona. We have been way above normal for July. Usually it is around 105° with dewpoints in the 60's in July with the monsoon. We've had a string of 112°+ for the past ten days or so.

Send me an address and I'll box up some of this for you.

Yep we broke the record low here in Kansas also.

... Record low temperature set at Chanute and Russell Kansas...

A record low temperature of 53 degrees was set this morning at
Chanute Kansas. This breaks the old record of 55 set in 1947.

A record low temperature of 56 degrees was set at Russell Kansas.
This breaks the old record of 57 set in 1960.

Record low of 49 in Beckley, WV, 48 in Lewisburg, WV. Lowest reading in the state I could find was 44 at Green Bank (near Snowshoe).

8 to 10 degrees away from frost in July - pretty crazy.

here in omaha we set records on friday morning and saturday morning, but not last night. i went camping last night and could see my breath though!! i believe the low was 53 again at eppley last night.

on friday morning the low was 53 breaking the old record of 55 set back in 1885 and 1883!!

on saturday morning the low was 53 breaking the old record of 57 set back in 1873!!

Outside of one week back in June, it's been an unusually cool summer around most of the midwest. Several record lows for both minimum and maximums here the last few days. This is the time of year when we often see excessive heat and humidity and powerful nocturnal storms. Not the case this year.

For example, this time of year at this time of night we could easily be in the 80s, with dewpoints well into the 70s and strong convective systems traversing the region. Instead, it's 55 degrees outside heading for a low in the upper 40s. Simply amazing.

Looking at the mid-range models shows more unseasonable cool air for next weekend as well. If trends continue this will end up being "the summer without a summer".

I'm with Richard Dixon - send me an addy, I'll send you the heat we've been having! LOL Had nearly 2 weeks of over 100 degrees, with heat index values approaching 110. UGH. Heat + humidity = a very miserable me. LOL Say: how about an even exchange? You send me your cool (wonderful) temps, I'll box up the heat and send it on its way!
