I've been a "spotter" since the mid 80s, but last season I finally decided to jump in and go after the storms instead of waiting for them to come to me. We would drive wherever it took, but still, we were only able to chase after work (after 6pm) and on weekends. We both work 9-5 Monday to Friday.
Our main purpose is to spot for the local NWS office, and thanks to Spotter Network, we were able to do just that in several cases where I was unable to find them on amature radio (being in unfamilar areas). When we would tell the other spotters on amature radio we had driven up from Dallas, we were ALWAYS welcomed with open arms.
Of course, while out there, we had our video cameras rolling, and I thought you guys might enjoy seeing our "highlights" video. Its not Andy Gabrielson, but I think we did pretty good for our first year!
NOTE: The video was uploaded in 1080p HD, and that option is available for playback.
