Then the only thing left is to ensure that it is your SpotterNetwork ApplicationID and not your username which is entered. Typically a 12+ character alphanumeric.

SpotterNetwork Id is entered and the not the username Joe. I've checked it all, double checked it, and triple checked it.

Thanks for the nice comments. Ah yes, you have a sharp eye. This is something that I've documented as a limitation thus far only because I ran out of memory using the technique I started with. However, I am in the progress of converting to a much more efficient means of handling the radar data (from a memory and time to process perspective). I made some very good progress on the new radar renderer today and hope to have it working in the next few days. When I manage that, you'll get the full 1/4km BV resolution and I think you'll see a pretty noticable performance increase too. The 8 bit SRV is something I have planned as well.

Excellent! Thanks for the feedback!

Hi Joe, I just got a Droid X and updated it to Android 2.3. After downloading your program from the Android Market I tried opening pykl3 and a window would pop up and before I could even read it the program would close. I then put the phone in Airplane mode and opened the program which got me to the user agreement but now when I accept the agreement a window pops up saying "The application PYKL3 Radar (process com.MyPYK.Radar.Full) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". Any ideas? I can't get past this point.

did you do the 20mb GIS update?

Two things....if prompted to submit a report, please do and put your initials in there so that I can associate a particular crash report with your issues.

Secondly, delete the PYKL3Radar directory on the SDCARD and start the download process again (Use WiFi please) That will give you a fresh install.
My Rooted/Cyanogen Hero runs 2.3 and works better than it ever did on 2.1

I actually don't have an sd card installed but I am buying one tommorow, I got the phone off ebay and although the phone was new it was missing the sd card for some reason. Do you need a card for the program to install correctly? Am I out of luck or can I try a reinstall some other way? I never got a prompt or saw the GIS files download. I'll go submit the report for the heck of it but it seems the lack of a card might be the issue.

Hi,
Unfortunately, the SDCARD is compulsory as the phone doesn't have enough free memory internally to handle things. It simply won't work without it. That's why it gets mentioned in the product description. I'd recommend at least a 2GB card. The memory requirements will substantially decrease in the next version due to a reworking of how things are drawn, but more space is always a plus. With the SDCARD in place, you should get the request to download the file. If you have trouble, the quickest way to get a response is writing me at [email protected]

Thanks, I should have read more closely. Good news though, I installed the card and everything is running great now. Killer app! Looking forward to future developments/releases.

I attached the logcat I captured yesterday while it was searching for location.

I did the gesture pad "upside down L", and it shows coordinates and NETWORK. I look up the coordinates on google maps and they're about 2 miles from my location, so it gets somewhat of a location when starting up, but that's about it.

I noticed that the GPS plot in pykl3 was putting me on the east side of I-35 (according to the red interstate line on the program) but I live on the west side. So I got the exact coordinates of my house off google maps. Then I checked the coordinates in pykl3 and they were correct and matched google maps. Maybe the plotting of the interstate is slightly off? (Using network location on my iPod Radarscope puts me on the opposite side too for some reason). I do not really care since I won't be using it for navigation at this point. As long it shows my correct position relative to the storm then its all good.

All of the GIS data has been run through filters prior to packaging to make the file sizes and rendering times reasonable. As a result, there is some decrease in accuracy, but I picked a compression rate that typically doesn't cause too much trouble. So, some minor deviations are expected. It's just, if one wanted the accuracy, the program update rate while panning would get pretty slow. So, everything is a trade-off.

I own a BlackBerry Playbook. Being new it is lacking some key apps that I need.

This one has filled the need for now.

With the "leak" of the Blackberry PlayBook Android player I am now able
to use this program and it works fine.

The only issue is it only works via WIFI and not via the tethering or bridge.

We shall see how it does when the official release of the of BB/PB Droid player comes out.
